North Carolina Wine Festival

Wow I spent a great day with my daughter at Tanglewood Park it was the 8Th annual wine tasting. This was the first time I had attended the event. It was great I was not prepared. People had yard chairs and umbrella's so they could sit around a listen to the live bands(thank goodness it was not bluegrass) I am sorry to all the fans of blue grass but I just cant take bluegrass. I think 40 vineyards had tents and wine to taste. When you entered the event you got a glass. If I live and nothing happens I plan to go again next year. I will be prepared with a chair and maybe a tent. It was hot, hot, hot but still a great day.

A Crochet Mystery

Hi, I hope everyone had a great Monday. I did not at least not the first half of the day. I did have a better evening. I made a trip to Randleman for a bottle of wine. You see even if this is a dry City it does not mean some of the Citizens of this City do not drink. I think some people have missed that point. The reason I am rambling is once again some very brave souls are trying to get the city to put Beer and Wine sales and ABC store to a vote. The editorials have already started just like I knew they would from under age drinking to people getting killed by drunk driver's you would think no one in the town is drinking now and everyone will start just because Asheboro joins the crowd and vote's in Beer and Wine sale and ABC store. We shall see how things play out this time. Over the weekend while visiting Crochetville I ran across a thread telling us all about a new book written by Betty Hechtman, Hooked on Murder it is a Crochet Mystery! the first I have every heard of before. So I have read a few pages and I think it will be a pretty good read. No knit or crochet going on for me. I planted a cherry tomato yesterday in a container until now I was having trouble finding one. The Cherry Tomato is a Mountain Belle as I already said I planted one in a hanging basket and I will plant the rest in the garden. The picture I am posting is the items I sent to my partner in the Notions Swap at Crochetville.

Spring

It is Spring once again and it is time for planting to start. I so over the weekend I spent sometime planting Tomato's. On Saturday I planted Grape Tomato's in hanging baskets. I got the idea from PBS's Almanac Gardener. They used Cherry Tomato's I could not find Cherry so I am using Grape. Since it is a small tomato I am hoping it will work just as good as the Cherry. On Sunday after a visit to Lowe's Hardware I planted a Better Bush and Patio tomato and 2 Sweet 100's all in containers. I know for sure the Patio and perhaps the Better Bush or especially bred for container gardening. I think this weekend just because and I need something to get me out of my depression, I will buy a big planter and a squash plant just to see if it will grow and produce. The stimulus check just did not do it for me, I made a car payment because I am behind to far behind on all my bills for that amount of money to do anything for me and the state of my life and financial situation. I made a trip to Costco that did make me happy for a few minutes I could not get everything I wanted it is a dream of mine. I am talking food items not lawn furniture, cloths or any extras. I love Costco. I never have a check that I can just spend what I want. Maybe one day. This weekend I finished up a dishcloth that went horribly wrong I think it happened around row 40 and I am sure that 3rd glass of wine helped. So this means I will need to get another ball of cotton yarn and start over on this pattern. Posting picture the Grape and Patio tomato. If you can tell the difference let me know.

Humday Surprise!!

I was delighted to find out when I walked through the door this afternoon my swap package sitting on the couch. I am participating in a natural fiber swap through crochetville it is a forum for crocheter's and knitters to share their work and to get and give inspiration. I love to see the work of other crocheter's and knitter's. You can visit crochetville at www.crochetville.org I have not spent a great deal of time knitting this week or last week. I must get back to my knitting and it has been a very long time since I have crocheted. I am currently reading Knit Fast, Die Young by Mary Kruger the 2nd book in the knitting series. I was so happy with all the wonderful things I received from my swap partner. The picture I posted is of the beautiful yarn and extras. My partner was very good to me and it was so much fun taking out each and every item from my box. I am already wondering what project to start with the Chunky Misti Alpaca Skein it is a very pretty color. I need to look through my one-skein wonders books to see if I can find a good project.

Oh Happy Day!

I finally finished the last dishcloth in the Leisure Arts Garden Dishcloths to Knit by Melissa Bergland Burnham. Birdhouse I used Peaches & Creme 4 ply Worsted Weight 100% Cotton Yarn color Camel. I hope to start another dishcloth soon. I am currently getting together the items for my partner in the natural fibers yarn swap on Crochetville. Also I fell victim to another swap and I sent in my survey for the Notions Swap so I hope the coordinator received my survey. Just finished reading Died in the Wool, by Mary Kruger. If you like a good mystery and knitting you should give this book a try. Just 2 more days until the weekend. Side note my daughter got the chance on Tuesday to hear Michelle Obama speak at her college and to shake her hand. She told me that she was a very good speaker. She is very excited this will be her first Presidential election she was not old enough to vote in 2004. It is a very exciting time in America.

Great weekend!!!!

Well this has been a great weekend. I spent the afternoon at an Ravelry meet up at Yarn Etc. in Greensboro NC, it was the first meet up. I met a lot of great knitters. Everyone was so nice and friendly. I am so mad at myself because I forgot to bring my camera. So no pictures of all the fun. I found the yarn for my partner in the yarn swap I am participating in at Crochetville. It felt great to get the chance to knit with a group. I met a lot of wonderful knitters. I got to see spinning and it looks like a lot of fun. I am not so sure I have the skill for spinning. Please forgive me for forgetting my camera. Still working on my birdhouse dishcloth.

April

It's April we are already 4 month's into the year. It's Spring and its raining. I am happy about the rain we need the rain lots of rain. Well my mother has finally started cleaning out her house because someone want to rent the house. This is it my house is not my own anymore, it is not that I don't get along with my Mother I do she is a very easy going woman. It's just that I am really feeling more than ever like a child. I really did enjoy living alone. I got to do that for a short time after my daughter went to college. Then all of a sudden my Grandmother was placed in a nursing home and my mother moved in with me which was always the plan I just hoped it would be a year or two before this took place and I did not realize how depressed I would be about the arrangement. I am convinced now that even if I really wanted to meet someone my chances and slim to none, who wants to date or marry a woman that lives with their Mother? Plus the fact that I am 44 overweight and uneducated and not smart enough to go to college with nothing to offer not even good teeth. The deck is stacked against me. No hope at all plus I don't get out much and I live in a terrible little town. what do you do I ask you. It would be nice to get physical again before I die. Well they say life is a bitch and then you die. Well enough of the pity party (with the balloon's and music). I have started the last dishcloth in the Leisure Arts #3934 Garden Dishcloths to Knit, by Melissa Bergland Burnham. The name of the pattern Birdhouse. I hope to finish sometime this week. I have not worked on the dishcloth today and of course I am 16 hours into my work week only 24 hours to go and it is the weekend baby. Tomorrow is hump day!!! I am currently reading Died in the Wool, by Mary Kruger. I am enjoying the book. I did not realize there were so many knitting related fiction books out in the world.

Cardinal

Another dishcloth. Cardinal 100% medium/worsted 4 ply yarn. One ball. Straight knitting needles, size 7(4.5 mm) or size needed for gauge. The color red of course. Leisure Arts #3934 Garden Dishcloths to Knit. All the dishcloths I have posted about have used the same yarn and needle size. One day I promise to knit something other than a dishcloth. I plan this coming weekend to attend a meet-up at Yarn etc. in Greensboro, I hope to meet some of the people from ravelry. That live in NC and the Triad area. During the meet up you get a prize for the number of finished objects you wear to the store and the number of unfinished objects you have in your project bag. I wonder if you can bring in both knit and crochet UFO'S. I will probably buy the yarn I need for the yarn swap I am participating in at Crochetville. I will post pictures of what I give and receive as soon as my swap partner has received and I have received.

Tulips

Tulips a sign of Spring. I finished another dishcloth last night. Tulip from Leisure Arts #3934 Garden Dishcloths to Knit, Designer Melissa Bergland Burrnham. In the pattern book the color Lilac was used to make the dishcloth. I used Hot Purple Lily The Original Sugar ' n Cream. I am almost finished with the pattern book. I cast on Cardinal today before work I got to work a few minutes early and what a relaxing way to start work by casting on and working a a row or two before the hard work starts. I will work a few rows tonight before I go to bed. I added the project on Ravelry tonight. Still getting use to the site. I will learn how to add things the right way soon. Okay a question URL? I wanted to add a slide show to my blog so I went to customize and then clicked on slide, clicked on flickr and I have a flickr account. Nothing happened. I notice url? so what do you do? What is my URL and how do I find it on flickr ? I have my blog listed on flickr.

Long weekend

Well I have a nice long weekend to look forward too the office is closed tomorrow, so nice 3 day weekend coming. I plan to clean my bedroom and start on the garage. I want to add more to my blog and I guess I will give up on spicing my blog up by changing the background. I guess I will learn to be content with the templates blogger offers its customers. Posting a picture of another dishcloth. Still working my way through Lesiure Arts Garden Dishcloths to Knit, I am posting a picture of Hummingbird & Trumpet Vine. Current dishcloth I am working from the same pattern book is Bee Skep. I knit the Hummingbird & Trumpet Vine dishcloth in TeaRose, Lily The Original Sugar' n Cream. Yes one day I will move past dishcloths and try a wearable.

WIDGET?!!!!!

Okay what may I ask is a damn Widget? Last night while visiting Crochetville I ran across a persons blog with a template website for blogger. So I visit the site find a new template. So far so good. Then I follow the instructions from the site to download the new template again so far so good. The problem came in when the questions was asked on blogger do you want to delete your Widgets or something like that was ask okay I clicked yes and oh my oh my. I lost all my pictures, all my list only thing I did not lose was my posts. Could not figure out how to go back even though the directions seem very simple. So now I have to start all over again. I have added some of the blogs I like to read back and I not sure I will add the books back. I wish blogger would add some new templates and make it a little easier for those of us who are not so good with computer. Still can't figure out how to add a slide show. Oh well you can't have everything. Posting a picture of another dishcloth from Leisure Arts Garden Dishcloths to Knit, Topiary with Heart I used Lily The Original Sugar' n Cream cotton yarn in Emerald. One more day and I get a nice long weekend.

The Bad Blogger Returns

Well I am back again and this time I have pictures to post. I love to knit dishcloths but sometimes I am lazy and I don't knit much. Well I spent the weekend knitting dishcloths. Today I finished the dishcloths and a scarf just the weaving of ends. Also I am reading what I think is a good book again A Knitting Mystery the 4th from Maggie Sefton A killer Stitch, now this is not a deep book that opens your mind to the mysteries of life, its just a good entertaining read and it really makes me wish this fictional town exists and I lived in the town and was part of this great group of knitting. I don't have any knitting friends that I can meet up with in a yarn shop. Only on the net have I found blogs to read with great knitters. I am hoping this Spring and Summer to get out more and find a group. I have heard of a group in High Point I might try that group. I am currently working on another scarf of course. Giant Pom-Pom Scarf from Crazy Aunt Purl's Drunk Divorced & Covered in Cat Hair. So far so good I am still not sure if I want to use a whole skein or hank whatever you want to call it of Rio De La Plata for the Pom-Poms. In the book Aunt Purl(Laurie Perry) states you can buy pre made pom-poms but not sure how that would look, you would want the pom-poms to match. I think I need to find a good pom-pom maker trying to make them on my own has not worked out for me so far.

Dishcloths

Dishcloths are instant gratification. You can start one and finish one in the same day. I really enjoy both knitting and crocheting dishcloths. I am on a knit dishcloth thing at this time. I found a Leisure Arts pattern book at Hobby Lobby on Saturday Garden Dishcloths to Knit, by Melisa Bergland Burnham. Today I finished Sunflower I used Lily Sugar' N Cream cotton yarn in SunShine in the pattern the color they used was Maize. I am moving on sometime this week to Ladybug and then on to the weekend and I plan to start my 3rd Magic Scarf for a woman at work she liked the pattern when I show her my 2nd Magic Scarf. I will post a picture of the scarf as soon as I finish weaving the ends on the 2nd scarf. Previous post on the needles shows the unfinished 2nd Magic scarf. 3 days until the weekend.

Frog Dishcloth

Well the only thing I have to show for my long weekend. A knit Frog dish cloth I chose the color Hot Green the designer used Light Sage. I started working on it Sunday afternoon and finished about 2:00 am Monday morning. The office was closed today MLK Holiday. Saturday was very cold and I spent the most of the day watching it snow and watching tv. Here in this part of NC we hardly ever get snow and it was only a dusting maybe 1" here in Asheboro but it was pretty never the less. I did just a little knitting and some wine drinking. Sunday was sunny but cold and I made a pot of chili. I am currently working another dishcloth. The dishcloth patterns are from Leisure Arts #3934 Garden Dishcloths to Knit.
