Knitting class

I went to another knitting class tonight I took my One Skein Wonders pattern book and I have started a new project Filippi Scarf will post a picture at a later date. The yarn I brought really does not do the scarf justice. I might start another in a different yarn the yarn I choose to use is a eye lash and the color is what got me the most I don't like eye lash. The pattern calls for Alpaca it is made with Misti International, Misti Alpaca Chunky 100% baby alpaca, in the yarn I choose makes the scarf look so different. I like it better in the Alpaca. I need to find the yarn from the pattern. I see that knitting could easily become my new passion. I have a new scarf stated in the same color as the first I will finish that off this weekend or I might let my daughter finish it off when she comes home. Well this is just a quick update on my knitting classes.

Asheboro NC my Mother wanted to buy peas for the garden well we found the peas and we brought Malbar Climbing Spinach I plan to plant it in a large pot it is a vining plant. I hope it will grow you can cook it or just let it grow for an ornamental plant. We weeded the garden and put Miracle Grow on all the plants. I started another knit hat in the same color as the first. I am still waiting on the yarn to go on sale again. I picked up the book I was reading A Good Yarn, by Debbie Macomber almost finished it is a very good read. The garden is coming along posting pictures of the garden and my day lilies.

Yard Sales and Vineyards

We this has been a pretty good day. I got up early today and went with my daughter to try and sale some of her many cloth's at a yard sale. She sold a few but still has to many cloths that she will never wear again. Then we came home took a short nap you have to get up early to yard sale. Then after the nap we paid a visit to Randolph Counties first vineyard they had a grand opening and open house. It is a very pretty place and the wine was very good. They are allowed to have tastings and sale the vine they produce I think it's great. I am reading another book The Knitting Circle, by Ann Hood so far so good. I am working on a knitted hat to match the scarf I finished this week. So all is well on my end of town. We finally got a little rain this evening and it was very nice to sit on the deck reading and listening to the rain, my deck is covered so I can sit out while it is raining. Well time to read I am so far behind on my 50 book challenge.

My First Knitted Project.

Well happy Wenesday everybody. It's the middle of the week and last 2 days of the month, only 2 days left until the weekend and I am happy about the end of the week. I had a great knitting class on Tuesday I learned to bind off I hope I can remember how this weekend when I finished a scarf I had on another set of needle's. I really love knitting and I still love crochet. I need to divide my time better so I can manage crochet, knitting, and reading. So I can display more finished project's. I plan to sign up for more classes I need to get reading patterns down and also increase and decrease. I am working on a hat. My daughter is taking knitting classes with me and both of us want to learn how to knit sock's. I am posting a picture of the scarf I finished and a picture of the garden, the garden is not much to look at because it's a picture after 1 week and you can't see the plant's very well. I order a book with knitting project can't wait for it to get here so I can spend time looking at future project's. I hope next week I really learn how to read patterns. Happy crocheting and knitting.

I really need a sanctuary, to relax and spend quite time after a long day at the most wonderful place on Earth to work. I am increasing thankful to have a job. Lion Boucle' & Knitting

I don't think this yarn is working for me and my first knitting project. I had to go by the instructor's shop to get some help with my scarf because I had picked up some extra stitches. This yarn splits and it's hard to tell which part is the stitch. I forgot how to cast on I looked at the pictures in the knitting magazine and I can't get it from one picture, I need another set of needles. Maybe a dvd on knitting. I want to get this I have the garter stitch, and while I was doing this stitch it felt so soothing it has only been 3 days so I should not expect to be an expert. what kind of bulky yarn would make a good one to learn to knit. Maybe my good old standby Red Heart to practice. Open to suggestions.

First Knitting Class

I attended my first knitting class today. I am learning to knit a scarf. I should have brought 2 sets on knitting needles. So I can practice casting on. I learned the Garter stitch. I did not buy a fancy expensive yarn to learn to knit just in case I did not like or could not pick up what I was learning. I am posting a pictures of my first attempt at a scarf. I tried to practice a few stitches when I got home tonight I hope I was doing the stitch right it looks okay but a few times I was not to sure I did the stitch correctly. I will not give up I plan to buy a set of wooden needles or maybe plastic shorter needle's than what I have now. My goal is to get this knitting thing so buy this fall I can learn to knit socks. I finally have the book I have been wanting to read A Deadly Yarn, by Maggie Sefton it is book 3 in her knitting series. I will read a few pages tonight, this means I will have to put down my book I am reading A Good Yarn, by Debbie Macomber hopefully I can extended the time I have to read the book so I can get A Deadly Yarn read and returned by the 25th. it is an inter library loan from Henderson Co. Public Library. I am really happy about the knitting class, Carol Threadgill teaches the class. She teaches knitting and sewing. She does alterations and she has a line of clothing for pets. I did not know she had a shop in downtown Asheboro it is called Gizzie's Pearl Palace Boutique , it is at 111 North St., Asheboro, NC 27203. Happy crocheting and knitting.

One long week!!!

Well my first post for the month of May will start off with a whine. Tuesday at work was hell I work for the County, I get to work with big plans to get as many cases processed as I can and do you know what happened I signed in to the state system that I need in order to get a very vital pieces of my job done and it was down and it did not come up until 4:00 pm. So I did not get as many cases done as I wanted too. Today was better the system was up but I did not get as many cases as I wanted to done but tomorrow is another day. The phone calls will start hot and heavy tomorrow from all my clients that I did not get their cases process they will not understand computer problems they won't care. So no crochet this week. I have been reading I am trying to catch up on my 50 book challenge with the people of crochetville. I am reading A Good Yarn, by Debbie Macomber it is a good read I like light reads it is an easy read and entertaining. Just because I like to post pictures I will post another picture of a Llama. I still don't know if my knitting class will take place on Saturday but I will go to the store on Saturday ready to start. I hope so I really want to learn to knit. If they don't start the class I will go to A C Moore to learn how to knit

Pretty good weekend.

Well this weekend did not turn out to bad. I spent Sat morning waiting for the cable guy to come and install ddr or drr whatever so I can record shows while I am at work. I finished reading The Friday Night Knitting Club, by Kate Jacobs it is a great read if you have not read this book already please visit your local library or bookstore and read this book! . Today I had a great afternoon with my Sister(Hope) and my Niece(Deja) we went to the open house at Rising Meadow Farm http://www.risingmeadow.com/ it is a great place to visit I brought a skein of yarn and I got the chance to see Llama and sheep. The Llama would walk right up to the fence but not the sheep. In September they have a farm fest and I plan to go to that event also. I added another 12 rows of green and 4 rows of green to the ripple afghan I am working on I think another 12 rows of green will do it as far as the Afghan goes and then add the tassels. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Knoby Yarn

What the heck is knobby yarn. I plan to take a knitting class in May and the supplies you need to bring to class are 3 skeins of knobby or eyelash yarn. I really don't like eyelash (sorry) so I plan to bring knobby that is if I can figure out what it knobby yarn means. I hope the instructor is still planning to have the May classes so far I am the only person who has signed up for the class. On Sunday I got started on my ripple afghan, I have added the blue and started again with the green and I think it looks great! I plan to do 4 rows of blue then another 12 green, 4 blue and finish with 12 green to make the number of rows in each color even the total afghan should only be 63"I don't care if it is longer that that because it is for my daughter and if it is longer than the pattern calls for she wont care the when I add the fringe I plan to use both blue and green mixed together instead of one blue tassel and one green. I have started buying the notions for my partner in the notions swap at crochetville. I have until the 15th of May to buy and I have to have the package in the mail by the 19th I will not reveal the Items I have purchased so far just in case someone from crochetville might visit my blog. I am reading a great book The Friday Night Knitting Club, by Kate Jacobs it is a great read I picked it up at Books-A-Million on Friday. Well I am off to a visit at crochetville and then spend some time reading. Happy crocheting and knitting.

No crochet so far today I have spent some time reading, the book of choice The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacob so far a pretty good read. I am only 2 weeks away from a knitting class so far no one but me has signed up for the class I hope she will have the class. I have already purchased 2 knitting magazine's. Windy, Windy Monday

Well I had a very unproductive weekend. I am not sure if it is a cold or allergies I did not feel well and then on Sat I got up early and went to Walmart first and then Hobby Lobby. Walmart did not have the Turqua (blue) red heart yarn I wanted to use in my ripple afghan. Then after finishing my shopping minus yarn. I went to Hobby Lobby they did not have the Turqua yarn either and the #80/Royal yarn which is a brand only sold by Hobby Lobby called I love this yarn! out of stock until the end of the week. So I came home after a trip to the library I watched DIY, PBS, and a few cooking shows took a nap. Sunday was the same I will add that I did look at some crochet and knitting magazines. It rained most of the day on and off. Day from hell at work but I am thankful to have a job and I wish to keep it so that I will not become homeless. I don't think I would be able to find another job. So I do what I am told and I try to smile through all the things that happen. Maybe this weekend I will go to Greensboro to get some red heart AC Moore having a sale on redheart. I received my partners name for the Notions Swap at crochetville I am looking forward to the swap it will be my second at crochetville. Happy crocheting and knitting.

UFO'S

I have so many unfinished projects. I am to lazy right now to finish the blushing grannies afghan so the squares are in a basket in my bedroom taunting me each time I pass by the basket. The shells afghan I ran out of royal blue yarn so that will have to wait until payday, and the ripple in spring green I decided to add another color turqua (bright blue) this has to wait until payday too because I thought I had 2 skeins of this color but I don't you hold 2 strands of yarn together for this afghan. I have a UFO scarf and 2 more afghan, I cant find the pattern for 1 and I need to take time to remember what row I stopped on for the other. I hear that we have a rainy weekend coming so maybe I will work on all UFO'S this weekend. Yesterday was the first meeting of for the crochet group no one but me and the instructor for the crochet classes showed up, but we both stayed and talked and worked of projects, I really enjoyed it I hope next month more people show up, we are planning to meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month. I am still the only person signed up for the May knitting class I hope this instructor still has the class and I can learn to knit. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Spring in NC

Well its spring in NC and of course most of my azaleas are in bloom and the lilac bush so what is happening tonight a freeze the temps are dropping into the 20's so this means my white azalea's will turn brown and there is nothing I can do. I am posting a picture of the flower arrangement my mother did out of some the the flowers from the yard. I spent most of the day in Greensboro with my mother and aunt looking for curtain's and we found some at Anna's Linens. I will hang the curtains tomorrow. I did a couple of rows on my shells afghan this morning before I went to Greensboro. I really would like to start the ripple but I don't have enough skeins of one color yarn to get started and finish the afghan so I don't want to start. Well pay day is coming and maybe I can buy the yarn for the ripple and the rest of the yarn for the shells afghan. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Spring!!!

Spring, I did not spend the weekend working on the blushing grannies afghan. I spent the weekend working in the yard. So this means I used muscles that I have not used in a long, long time! So today I feel like I have been hit by something large. I still went to walk today, I am trying to lose weight. I got in my 8 glasses of water that was horrible. I hate water. I started working a new afghan going pretty good but I did not work on it that much this weekend either. I am watching deal or no deal and this man has just turned down $173,000 ! I don't know whats wrong with these people. I think I would have to work over 10 years to earn that much money on my job. I don't think he needs the money that bad. Happy crocheting and knitting.
