Tuesday

Well its Tuesday it is the one year anniversary of Katrina a very sad day in American history. Sometimes I wonder what happens in a great Country like this when things don't seem to be getting done for all the people who have suffered and lost so much. How long does it take to get someone home restored and why don't insurance companies what to pay you after you pay them for soon long. I just don't understand. Well on to crochet I have the chain ready for my scarf and tonight I will start the first row. I hope I will get a real digital camera soon and post a picture . I will keep you informed.

Sunday Afternoon

Well it has been a while since my last post. I have been tired and slightly down. I have started another Beth's Little Star Afghan in the same colors as the one in previous posts. I don't think I will post a picture of this one since it will look just like the last. I finally made it to A C Moore yesterday I went with a friend. I brought the yarn for a project from Stitch ' N bitch crochet the Happy Hooker Denise Cozzitorto One-Skein Scarf the scarf in the book is green, I chose That's Pink Patons Classic Wool Merino, I love bright colors and if this scarf turns out great I plan to make another in bright blue. I would take a picture of the yarn I plan to use and post it but I made the sad mistake of buying another little cheap digital camera and downloaded it to my computer well it doesn't work as well as the first cheap camera I brought. So I uninstalled the camera and Tried to reinstall the first, that when the problems set in with my computer. I put the disk in and tried to install the camera it wouldn't install and so I had to uninstall and then tried to reinstall the camera but no luck and the disk would not come out of the computer for 3 days!!!! I pressed on the tray and the eject button but nothing happened. So finally on Friday night I pressed the button one more time and out pop the tray, now I am afraid to put the disk back in to try and install the camera.

MONDAY

Monday 4 more days to go before I have another weekend. Yes I am wishing my life away but I cant wait until Friday. I live for Friday's. So today was yet another long and stressful day. Tonight I will crochet hopefully it will relieve some of my tension. I have a lot of tension. No camera to download pictures and no money or time to buy YARN and I love and want YARN. What is a girl to do when your funds are low and you want to start project. Last night when I went to check out the happenings on crochetville. CrazieJillie84 made a beautiful blanket Babette Blanket it is wonderful she gives your progress reports from this project and a picture of the finished project. After viewing CrazieJillie84's blanket I felt the need to go online and order the magazine that has the pattern Interweavecrochet Spring2006 Issue. I hope it doesn't take to long to arrive. No pictures to post tonight. I have found the camera that I want to buy at walmart it has a zoom lens and its only $129.00 a very good price for a digital camera. I might ask if they still have lay-away. This weekend I plan to start another retangle afghan in red and black, it is a great color combination and my daughter's school colors. I think I will give the afghan to her friend. Daughter already has a red and black afghan I had a very good friend make one for her last year before I learned to crochet.

I am now sitting in front of the computer and didn't spend a minute today crocheting and I think I am to tired to start any projects tonight. So I think I will wait until this weekend to start any projects. I really hate to go to work tomorrow. Well at least it's only 3 days this week.

A very busy Monday

Its Monday and it has been a very busy one and I didn't go to work. I have spent the day last minute shopping with my daughter at Costco. The day started off rocky packed the car with cans to take to recycle center to sale and my daughters car wouldn't start. So that meant a call to a auto shop and the car had to be towed. So then it was off in my car to Costco my favorite place to shop. Even though it has been a long time since I have been in Costco I really like shopping at Costco. I have notice that some of the prices have gone up but I guess it is because of gas prices. We did find some very good buys. I hope to go back soon it's time to renew my membership and this year my daughter is old enough to have a card so when I renew I will get a card in her name. My mother says we need to start going at least once month. I have finished my exchange items for the month and they are ready for the mail tomorrow. Tomorrow is move in day for my daughter at school. It is going to be a long day. We have to spend sometime in the financial aid office and the housing office she needs to change her meal plan. I wish I had taken Wednesday off work also but I didn't and it's off to work on Wednesday I am glad it will be a 3 day work week. I dread checking my voice mail. I am posting a picture of the things I am sending in my august exchanges.

Sunday Night Already

Well once again it's Sunday night and no work for me tomorrow I took Monday and Tuesday to get some last minute things done before my daughter goes back to college. Tuesday is move in day and I cant wait, I have enjoyed her but a 19 year old can be exhausting. I have spent the weekend getting my exchange items together I need to get them out in the mail on Tuesday. I have already received my dishcloth and granny square exchange. I received the granny squares from Joyce D and the dishcloths from Carrie C both women are great crocheters.

I finished the Beth's Star Afghan

Well yes I finished the afhgan and I was so happy and proud of my work. I will post a picture but after I finished weaving in all the ends and clipping a long end in the center the afghan pulled apart in the middle. I tried to repair the center and I feel that it will be good enough for home use but not to give to someone. I dont think I can rip it out and start over because it is two colors and not one so that just will not work. My daughter still wants to take it to the woman at her job, I told her she could if she wanted to but not to sale it to her just give it to her and tell her what happened. I wonder if fabric glue will help? I told her to tell the lady to put fabric glue on the middle of the afghan. So I hope this works and she can use the afghan. I plan to make another one as soon as I have finished my exchange items I start another. Maybe I will have better luck .

Ah Sunday Night again and I didn't win the lottery.

Well another Monday is looming. I just don't know what I am going to do but get up in the morning and meet the challenge. When I get this week over I will have a nice long weekend because I have to help my daughter move back to school, I took Monday just because and Tuesday is move in day. Yesterday while out shopping I brought a new magazine about crochet, its Crochet today I really like the magazine and I want to do several of the afghans and a hat. Crochet today is a great magazine for beginners. So its just right for me. Also I brought Stitch' N bitch crochet the Happy Hooker its seems great too, I looked through the book quickly and plan to look through it tonight. I have not crocheted at all today so I guess that means I will have to work very hard tomorrow night I am running out of time. My daughters last day of work is on Friday. As of yesterday in case I didn't bring it up I am now the proud grandparent of to hermit crabs Buttercup and Smiley, they are named for the shells when she brought them they had painted shells, I hope that is not bad for them. Buttercup and Smiley will go to school with her this year. Well I am off to spend time reading Stitch' N bitch crochet.

A very long day.

I spent most of the day walking behind my daughter and niece's as they searched for clothes. They didn't find very much but they tried. We came home with a couple of shirts and jeans and 3 hermit crabs. I hope the hermit crabs live. The sand is wet in my daughters hermit crab cage and I don't think they like the wet sand but the sponge that came with the kit the crabs keep knocking it out of the shell so now the sand is wet. Crocheted on the way to Concord but not on the way back so I will spend most of the day tomorrow crocheting. Also another shopping trip this one to Greensboro. I will try again tonight to post a picture.

Its Friday thank you, thank you, thank you. The work week is over and its the weekend!!!! I tried to post a picture last night but could not get it to download. I will try again today I am working on the baby afghan only 6 days to finish. I am a little nerves about this because I am selling it to someone and I am new to crochet and I hope that my afghan will hold up and she wont regret buying from me. I am so glad I learned to crochet it is a very good stress reducer. You really feel as if you are accomplishing something with each round that you add to your project. The heat is on its hot, hot, hot. I will work in my projects for this months exchanges. Well I am not sure whats going on but I cant get my pictures to download so I will not be able to post a picture not sure what I am doing wrong.

HUMPDAY !!!!!!!

Well its humped two more days to go and it is the weekend baby!!!!. Well another hard day at work, each and everyday that I go to work I feel that I earn my keep as far a work goes the phone rang off the hook today. The struggle continues each and everyday for so many of the citizens of Randolph County, so many job loses. When I first moved to Randolph 19 years ago you could quit one job if you wanted to and find another the next day! And as some of the supervisor's use to tell us in the factories I use to work in we can find someone to replace you these jobs are a dime a dozen. This was indeed the case, this is true no longer so many factories have closed and jobs that are above minimum wage are to hard to find. I don't know if anyone else in Randolph County has notice but it seems to me the number of people with a good education seems to have dropped. So many of the people I come across have never finished high school and I think this is going to present a problem in the not to distant future. As I said at the being so many people are struggling it is hard to keep up with the demand. Well on to crochet I did a little crochet last night on the star afhan that I am working, I am on round 9, so far so good. When this afghan is finished I plan to start another star in very bright colors. Love, love bright. colors.

I need to crochet

I have only worked the first 6 rounds of the baby afghan I am working. So tonight for just a little while I will work on a few more rows, tonight is color change night, I hope it goes well this is my first star afghan and it is for someone else not me or a member of the family. So I have no pictures to post tonight. After work today I felt like I had already put in 40 hours and its only been 16 hours three day to go before the weekend. I did it once again I joined 3 exchanges through the atmyhouse crochet group. I have no will power I had planned to sit this month out but couldn't pass over a chance to exchange. It's very nice to get something in the mail other than bills, bills and more bills. Off to crochet.

Another Sunday Night

Well once again it is Sunday night. Wow the weekend passes by so quickly. Here I am again dreading Monday all over again. I will repeat again that I am thankful to have a job, I just enjoy my leisure time more than I enjoy my time on the job. I have a stressful job. Last night I posted that I have plans to make a 5 point granny square for a baby afghan well I have changed my mine. I started a different afghan it is Beth's Little Star Afghan it is by Beth Parsons. So far so good I am on rounds 6. Its time to change colors and I need to seek advice from Beth. So I plan to go to her site and ask a few questions I have only two weeks to finish this afghan because that's all the time my daughter has left at her summer job. Time passes by very quickly at least to me but not to my daughter. I think she has been read to go back to school since she came home in May. On Friday tax free weekend will begin and on Saturday we have plans to go to Concord to do lots of shopping, before she leaves we will make the annual trip to Costco. I am posting a picture of the first 6 rows in the baby afghan. I am working for the lady on my daughters job.

It's Saturday Night

Its Saturday night and not a lot to do. I am watching TV and talking to my daughter. I need to be working on the baby afghan I am making for a woman that works with my daughter. She wants a afghan for a friend or relative that's having a baby. My plan is to make a round ripple afghan but I am having trouble with the pattern. The afghan is not laying flat. I have ripped out my work several times. I have changed hook sizes 3 times. I plan to rip out what I have done so far this time only 5 rounds, and try an H hook. Just in case this does not work I plan to make a 5 point granny square this one I know how to do I have made 2 already. I plan to use pastel green and blue its for a boy. I am not giving up on the round ripple but just working on a back up plan since I am getting paid and the woman I am making the afghan for does not care what pattern I use just the colors. Spent another great day in Greensboro with my daughter and mother , I really like Greensboro the shopping and the restaurants. The shopping because you have more to choice from the restaurants for the same reason and because Greensboro has liquor buy the drink, this appeals to me because sometimes I like to have a glass of wine or mixed drink with my meal. I am responsible and have a driver who doesn't drink. I live in Asheboro and I really wish we had beer and wine sales and liquor buy the drink, I feel that I would have the right to choose. Its not like I have a drink every time I go out but once again I have the choice. That is very important a right to choose. I am posting a picture of the afghan.

Sunday Night Once Again

Well it's Sunday Night again and I have the blues. Only a few more hours and I will be back at work. I attended a candlelight party, it was nice I didn't order anything. When I wake up in the morning I will start the countdown to the weekend. I ripped out the start to my afghan again and tried again to get it started but it was no good I just cant get it right. So I have started another Lovely Lilacs only mine will be Lovely Reds because I have red not lilac, never the less if this one goes better than the last one I tried it will be okay. I didn't manage to get my dishcloths made this weekend maybe I will start tomorrow. Well I didn't win the lottery so this means I cant retire early and build my dreamhouse at the beach. I did learn a new stitch today the picot. Some may say it is an easy stitch but until today I this stitch was not my friend. All you have to do is Ch 3, sc in the first st of ch-3, pretty silly not to be able to do that but at first it sounds a lot harder than it is to accomplish.

It's Saturday!!!!

I spent most of the day in Greensboro went to the mall, to Olive Garden and AC Moore. I started working on the Fabulous Fans Afghan today and I have already ripped out all the stitches once and I am about to rip out all the stitches again. I keep running out of stitches at the end of row 2. According to the pattern Row 2 Dc in each of the next 3 sc; * sk 3 sc, shell of (4 dc, ch 1, 4 dc) all in next st; sk 3 sc, dc in next 8 sc; rep from *across to last 11 sc, sk 3 sc in next sc, shell in next sc, sk 3 sc dc in last 4 sc. Ch 3 turn. I cant figure out what I am doing wrong and why I don't have enough stiches left. I think I am to stop with the 8 dc then shell and end with 4 dc. The only problem is It doesn't seem to end with the 8dc. Maybe my starting ch didn't have the right number of stitch. So I will rip it all out and start over again. Well I think a storm is coming I here thunder so I must shut down my computer. Picture is of the start of this afghan.

It's the weekend!!!!!

Well I have made it through another work week and It's Friday night, I have checked my email paid a visit to Crochetville and now here I am at blogspot. My daughter sold one of my afghan's at work yesterday, I didn't make a profit but at least some thought it was good enough to purchase. One of the ladies she works with wants a afghan for her son. So I have a trip to AC Moore planned for tomorrow. So I can get started on the project. I have plans to use the red and black yarn that I had planned to use on afghan for my daughter's boyfriend to make afghan I like in one of my patterns books from Leisure Arts. I have decided to wait to make the afghan for my daughter's boyfriend, afghans take to long to make to give to someone who might not last that long. They are to young for a serious relationship and both are still in college. So tomorrow I will start Fabulous Fans it is from as I stated before a Leisure Arts pattern book, Afghans by the Pound by Rita Weiss it is found on page 13, this book has several afghans I would like to try now I have to find the funds to buy the yarn and choose colors for all the patterns I want to try. Also even though I had said to my self that I would not join any exchange in the month of August tonight I plan to start on items for nexts months potholder, dishcloth and granny square exchange. The next thing I want to be brave enough to do is a wearable maybe a shawl I have a pattern I want to try but I don't have enough confidence in my skill. I have signed up for a fall intermediate class at my local Hobby Lobby. I need to check on that to see if the class will start in October as scheduled. I signed up weeks ago and I have not heard anything. I am posting a picture taken of my on Sunday of flowers I have planted on one side of my deck.

Exchange, Exchange I love Exchanges.

Tonight I am posting pictures of two July exchanges. The granny square exchange and potholder exchange. The first picture is from the July granny exchange my exchange partner for July was Bettina Kaminski from Germany she did a wonderful job on the granny squares she sent very soft yarn. The second is from my July potholder exchange partner, she sent to wonderful potholder nice and thick they will work great in the kitchen. All the exchanges I am participate in are on a fabulous group I belong to through Yahoo, atmyhouse@yahoo.com . The people in this group are great we have both crocheter and knitters, and many different exchanges. So you could get something in knit or crochet. I plan to start posting pictures of all my partners work. I think I will go back to past exchanges to show that work. I don't have any projects started at this time. I plan to start one soon. I have red and black yarn 2 pounds of red and 2 pounds of black I had planned to use some of this yarn on a afghan for my daughter's boyfriend I cant make up my mind if that is a good idea. Who knows things are going great at the moment but that could change. I have a pattern book Afghans by the Pound by Rita Weiss from Lesisure Arts. One pattern I would really like to try is Fabulous Fans but not in red or black , the last time I was at AC Moore they had a very pretty orange it is a soft orange not bright, but I think the pattern would work great with a bright color. We brought lottery tickets today and of course I didn't win this is why I don't buy that often, but it is wonderful to have the choice to buy here in NC.
