Easter Sunday!!!!

Well I was busy on Friday and Saturday and I did not post any updates. On Friday we got up and of course got dressed to head out to Piggly Wiggly did some grocery shopping and driving around in Siler City, we had the chance to see some very pretty houses. Then we headed back to Asheboro and two fish markets neither one of them had salt fish(fish that are cured with salt). Our family always brought the fish then soaked them and fried them for breakfast. My Mother and I are disappointed we planned to cook the fish tomorrow with grits( a southern thing). One fish market said the would have more early next week. Saturday I tried to find a nice dress to wear to church today but could not find anything I really liked. Saturday was my Mother's 74th birthday an we went out with my Sister and Brother-In-Law to Arigato Japanese Steak & Seafood House. We love the place it fun since they cook the food in front of you. Sunday My Mother and I went to Church with my daughter it was a wonder Easter Sunday Church Service. After church we went to Olive Garden or lunch and then went to my daughter's apartment and spend the afternoon we watched a move while I finished the Beth's Little Star Afghan. My daughter was please with the afghan and feels that it looks good. I noticed a mistake in the next to the last row told my daughter about it and showed it to her. She said no one will no and don't rip it out. I went with what she said and I don't think anyone will know but me and my daughter. I hope it is large enough. I did 20 rows and it seems big enough for a baby. The picture is of the finished baby afghan. Now that I have remembered what I did to get the Beth's Little Star Afghan started I am ready to start a new one.

The First Day of April

This is the first day of April we are in the fourth month in the year. Spring has sprung in North Carolina today it was in the 80's and I think it will be in the high 80's tomorrow. The baby afghan is progressing and I have started to add the green row's. I did not make it to the library today so it looks like a trip to Books-A-Million will be in order. Tomorrow my mother and I plan to go to Piggy Wiggly in Siler City. Just to look around. They have a wine that both my mother and I really enjoy, so we will get a bottle. Also we need salt fish. I have to tell you it's nothing like salt fish and grits! We plan to cook this over the holiday's. Posting a picture of baby afghan progress.

A Rough Start!

Had a rough start to the star afhgan, but finally got it started and thing are going pretty good. I am only a few rows in but I feel it is coming together. I don't know what happen a few months ago when I could not get the middle of the afghan right. This time I only had to rip it out one time. I had a very nice midweek girls night out. We went to L's Restaurant and Lounge 2316 Randleman Road Greensboro NC. Tonight you could get all you can eat crab legs. It had been a while since I had crab legs and they were great! I think we should get together midweek more often. Posting a picture to the baby afghan I started last night.

Four Day Work Week!

Well two days down and two days to go! I will have a nice long weekend! I have walked on the treadmill today and yesterday it has been made easier due to the fact I have been taking a book to read. I finished reading Crazy Aunt Purl's Home Is Where the Wine Is, by Laurie Perry. It was funny and very interesting. I hate walking on the treadmill. I need to do a little knitting or crochet. My daughter needs an afghan for a friend's baby shower on the 17th of April. I am glad I have a long weekend coming. Updated picture of CeCe the puppy, she will be 7 weeks old on Thursday. One more week with Mom and Dad and it's home with Kendra. The pictures are from last week. The Black dog is Tuck the very proud Dad.

Like I said it was a great weekend and I am trying to hold on to my euphoria! but it is slowly ebbing because I am back at home in Randolph County the City of Asheboro, an getting ready for another work week. Please don't get me wrong I am very happy and I feel well blessed to be getting ready for a work week. I am thankful for the fact each day that I am not escorted out of the building and asked not to come back! The best thing about the week is the office is closed on Friday and I have Monday off too! So I have a nice long weekend to look forward too! No knitting or crochet I hope visiting yarn shops and feeling yarn counts as a fiber and crafting activity. The picture is of a cat found at The Fiber Company A working Studio and fine craft gallery . It is located in Winston-salem's Arts District 600 N. Trade St. http://www.dadwaws.org/ . They have wonderful things if you are in the area you should pay a visit. I finished reading How to Knit a Love Song, by Rachael Herron and I hope it is not the last I hope it is a series. The book has a lot of talk about kniting & spinning and at the end of the book you get a pattern for a sweater.

The weekend is just to short

It is already Sunday night and I have to get myself ready for another long work week. I am happy to have a job but it is stressful. All job's have some stress. I spent about 30 minutes this afternoon cleaning around my deck. Some of my flowers have started to sprout around the deck. A few daisy and black eyed susans and one of the lilly's I have seen no sign of the white lilly on the other side of the deck but it is early still and hopefully it will come up. Spent most of the day reading Spinning Forward, by Terri Dulong. I pulled out all of my baby yarn to see what I have and get started on a baby afghan for another one of my daughter's friend's. The weekend was not to bad. The countdown to the weekend starts tomorrow.

This was not the best trip but it was nice to spend time with my Mother and Sister. No knitting or crochet today. I am reading Spinning Forward, by Terri Dulong. It is a very good read. I have had a long weekend I did not work yesterday and I still wish I did not have to go to work on Monday.

St. Patrick's Day

On St. Patrick's we always cook a corn beef brisket and cabbage. It was great no pub's in Asheboro. Finished reading Laced with Magic, by Barbara Bretton great book and the end was a total surprise. This book was the second in what I hope is a series. It is a knit themed but about a sorceress who owns a knit shop. If you want to read the this series you need to start with Casting Spells. Yesterday was my daughter's birthday. We went to the Kiwanis pancake supper this is our annual trip. Kendra only missed one year while in college. Then we paid a visit to CeCe my daughter's puppy she will be 5 weeks old tomorrow. So only 3 weeks to go and she will take her baby home. She had change a lot since the first visit. I started reading Spinning Forward, by Terri Dulong. Just 12 pages in and so far I like the book. Planning to get in some reading tonight. I need to spend sometime knitting. I am afraid to start the sweater. I have Friday off work so tomorrow is my last day if work for the week. My cousin wants me to teach her how to crochet. I am not sure I can teach her to crochet. I have never been very good at teaching people to do things. Posting pictures of CeCe.

Pretty good day

Well this has been a pretty good day. This means not half bad. I got up this morning got dressed and went to Greensboro. I love getting out of Asheboro and Randolph, it is like some big black cloud that hangs over my head goes away. Well the cloud lifted today and I made my first stop at the library to pick up to books I requested. Laced with Magic, by Barbara Bretton and Spinning Forward, by Terri Dulong. I plan to start with Laced with Magic right after this post. Then I went to stitch Point a yarn shop in Greensboro. I brought a skein of yarn Cotton Kisses from Plymouth Yarn Co. the skein of yarn comes with 2 patterns and 3 buttons. The pattern is for a very pretty little baby sweater. I have never knit a sweater. I really want to try and knit this sweater. I read the pattern and I don't understand it at all. The ladies at the shop told me to come by if I need help both of them have knit the sweater. I wonder if they mean come by just to get started! My next stop was AC Moore I was looking for size 15 31"circular needles. I did not find any of course. I found 29" , and 24". So I know I have seen 36" circulars at Benjamin Franklin's. I might have to go up to the 36" for the pattern I want to do. I avoided most of Greensboro today due to the ACC tournament. I got home read the pattern for the sweater watched Forever Knight on the Chiller channel. I have the house to myself this weekend. My mother is not here and my daughter's friend is not here. It was nice to come home to an empty house yesterday after work, and to go to Greensboro alone today. I really enjoy time to my self. It has been just me and the cats and I know this makes me seem like the crazy, divorced cat lady but what the hell.

Baby Washcloths

The Baby Washcloths for my coworker are finally finished. I knit the stork, baby bottle, lamb, butterfly, and rubber ducky. I weaved the ends today and they are ready for the baby. I have moved on and knit the baby bottle and stork for my daughter's best friend, cast on the baby buggy and I plan to try and get this cloth and rubber ducky done by Wednesday night. My daughter and one of her friends leave for New Jersey early Friday morning. So her friend plans to meet my daughter in Raleigh on Thursday night. This weekend my daughter and I went to a great restaurant on Saturday Razzoo's Cajun Cafe. My daughter had a drink called the lost hand, I had a margarita. I order the Jambalaya pasta it was very good, my daughter had a spicy shrimp pasta. I know I posted yesterday about my day with my daughter. I had to do so again today because I enjoyed it so much. How that she is working and I work and she is so busy with her friend's and boyfriend we don't get to spend as much time together. That's the way is should be when your child is an adult. Your relationship always changes and moves to different levels. This adult level great. I am posting picture's of the washcloths for my co worker.

Wonderful Saturday!

I spent a great day with my daughter. We started out with a trip to my co worker's house to see a 3 week old Chihuahua puppy that she wants to give to a good home. She has 2 Chihuahua's and they had puppies. My daughter wants a puppy and has for several months. So my friend from work let us come to her house to see the puppy. She is beautiful and at three weeks old so tiny. After the visit with the puppy we went to Kannpolis to Benjiman Franklin's Crafts and on to Concord Mall and lunch at Razzoo's my first time at the restaurant. I am almost finished with the baby bottle washcloth for my daughters friend. I am posting picture's of the puppy. She is so sweet and my daughter is already after one meeting in love with the puppy. She has already picked out a name CeCe.

I have my computer back!

This week I took my computer to this guy at work and he fixed all my problems. I love it! I brought it home today. I have access to the Internet so much faster, so now when I turn on the computer it does not take as long for the computer to come on or to get access to the Internet. I started a scarf for a fellow co-worker. I have the second baby washcloth started for my daughter's friend. The washcloths are my main focus. I need to get them read by next Thursday. I am working the baby bottle now this weekend I plan a big push to get them done and the end's weaved. I promise pictures on day soon. I am so happy tomorrow is Friday.

It's snowing again!

Okay we don't get several feet of snow like some people do. I am happy about that fact. We get a few inches at a time in this area of North Carolina. I has been snowing since around 11:00 am. The road in front of my house is a little slushy! In North Carolina a few inches is enough to get use excited. I am not complaining because this is nothing compared to what most people have are are receiving. I finished up the fourth book in the crochet mysteries by Betty Hechtman. The book is titled A Stitch in Crime. I loved it and of course the murder came as a great surprise to me, and the end was hilarious to me. I hope we don't have to wait for the next book in the series! I have all 4 of the books in the series and I love the fact that the books come out in paperback and they are very affordable. I am still on team Barry, even though I like Mason.I am also upset with Mollys' Son's, they don't seem to realize she has needs that they cannot fill and they just see her as a mother and not a person. If you enjoy a good cozy mystery give this book a try. I started knitting wash cloths for my daughter friend. She gave birth last week. My daughter and one of her friend's plan to go visit next weekend. So this is a rush job on the washcloths. I took my desktop to a coworker for repairs. I hope he can fixed the desktop. I have my daughter's old laptop and since I have wireless I can still access the Internet.

Why does the weekend pass by so fast?

Well I started my weekend on Thursday. I took Friday off to take my daughter to the oral surgeon. She had 7 wisdom teeth removed. She did great after the surgery. I brought her back to Asheboro. She slept for a few hours and got up for a while then went back to sleep. She did not swell as much as people told her she would and she said the pain was not that bad. On Saturday morning she felt good enough for a trip to Costco. I spent to much money, but I just had to get a leg of lamb and lamb chops. We spent most of the day in Greensboro. I went to A C Moore. I am looking for a dvd on how to knit socks. I did not find just what I was looking for but I did find The Art Of Knitting , and The Art Of Knitting & Crochet 2, if I read the back of the second dvd correctly I think it might have a sock Kit-A-Long. I was looking for Knitting Socks Techniques 1 & 2 a knitters's companion, by Lucy Neatby. I think I will give up and order Ebay, I was one on Amazon and they wanted $135.00 for one dvd. I can't afford to pay that amount. I know I took a class on how to knit socks but I did not come home and immediately start and finish the second sock so now I am lost. I suffered a great lost last week. The Stork washcloth that I was knitting suffered an attack by my cat, I forgot to put it away and left it on the table in the dining area. I had to rip it out and start again. So I am on row 35 and I learned not to leave my knitting out around this cat. Today we went to my daughter's church she joined one of the choirs and it was their Sunday to sing. We had a great time and a lovely afternoon. The A C Moore in Winston Salem is great, I think they have more yarn that the Greensboro A C Moore. Well almost time for Big Love.

Stork

Well we had a few inches of snow last night. I love to watch it snow. This snow did not have any sleet so by 11:00 am today the road was clear and no trouble driving. S0 I made a trip to two bookstores in Greensboro today I wanted to pick up a Simply Knitting magazine. I have the magazine and also brought the new book by Laurie Perry Crazy Aunt's Purl's Home Is Where the Wine Is. I am about to start row 31 of the Stork washcloth. I will post a picture of the half finished washcloth and afghan.

Another Friday Snow

It's Friday and it is snowing again. We have another snow here in Asheboro NC. I love to watch it snow. I love snow. This snow might no be so bad because so far no sleet. I hope will be able to get out tomorrow. I need a skein of cotton yarn from Hobby Lobby. I finished the lamb baby washcloth and cast on and knit the first seven rows of the stork baby wash cloth. I have decided to knit the stork also. I am reading Knit, Purl,Die, by Anne Canadeo only a few pages in to the book. I love light reads.

First February Post

Well finally got over my cold or what ever it was that I had last 2 weeks of January. I spent a long hard week getting to work because of the snow we had last weekend. Our office never closes so on Monday when I got to work I faced a very icy still covered in snow and Ice parking lot. I feel lucky I did not fall and bust my ass. If you are going to have a this office never closes for bad weather policy you could have the parking lots cleaned off. I have knit a few more rows on the baby washcloth, I am still working on the lamb. I need to finish it up and start the stork. The woman at work had her baby last week a little girl she weighed 8 pound and has a head full of hair. She came a few days early, both mom and baby are doing fine. This gives me a few extra days to get the washcloths done. The baby shower will have to wait a couple of weeks until mom feels up to getting out with the baby. I started an afghan crochet I found the pattern at www.projectlinus.org/patterns/ssba.html It is the Sideways Shell Baby Afghan(aka: Newbie Shell Afghan) by Donna Laing. I am using Baby Bee Sweet Delight Wrap the color crayons. It was on clearance at Hobby Lobby. After the foundation row you repeat row 2 until the afghan is 36" then you keep going with the pattern without breaking off the yarn all around the afghan in each space. I hope I can get the edge right. I have work tomorrow and I need to get back to the gym. I have not been the last 2 weeks. I am embarrassed to go back but I will go, it has been a bad keep to my no fried food and pasta week.

A Long Time Between Posts!

Well it has been a long time since my last post. I started getting a cold right after my last post and I have not felt very well since. The cough has been the worst part of the whole thing. A cough can keep you from getting a good night's sleep. Because I have been sick I missed working out all last week. I know the trainer's will think I am not serious about working out after this because I had just got started, and I have already missed over a week. It snowed yesterday in North Carolina and it has sleeted a little on and off today and at this moment we are getting what they said on the news tonight the last of the snow for our area. The ground is covered with snow and for our area this is saying something. I am not sure now many inches we got here today but it has remained below freezing all day today. So we will have this around for awhile. I am sure my trip to work will not be easy. I have spent the day watching t.v. and not knitting or crocheting. I have been looking for a pattern for a baby afghan. My daughter's best friend is having a baby in March and I want to make her an extra special afghan. Now I am listening to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on cd and on the Internet. I started the Little Lamb wash cloth it is from Leisure Arts #4352 baby washcloths To Knit, by Melissa Bergland Burnham. Once I am finished will knit the Stork and this will finish up the baby washcloths for my friend at work. I think I will knit them for my daughter's friend also. The washcloths knit up quickly and I love to the design develop row by row.

Middle of the week

Well this week seems to be passing by quickly. The office was closed on Monday. I meet a friend for lunch had a great time catching up. Then made my way to Hobby Lobby to pick up a few skeins of I Love This Cotton! to finish up the washcloths for my coworkers. I picked up 8 skeins of Baby Bee Sweet Delight Wrap I think they are discontinuing the color so it was on clearance. I was thinking maybe I could crochet a baby afghan for my friend at work. I am searching for a pattern. I want to do a ripple or a shell. We shall see what happens. I went to work out on Monday and again today. So no knitting today. Still reading On Strike for Christmas.
