A quick Hello

Well it has been a week since my last post. So I thought I would drop in and say hello. I had a pretty good weekend. I got up yesterday mailed my partner in the Wild & Woolie yarn swap at crochetville her package. Then I went to A C Moore they had a yarn sale going yesterday an since I have an acrylic budget I brought some nice red heart super saver yarn. It was a nice yarn event with make and take projects and door prizes. I won a basket with 7 skeins of yarn. Very pleased about that because I never win anything. One day I hope to post a picture of my basket and the yarn that is if I can get my usb port back from my daughter. I let her use my camera so she could take picture at a pot luck dinner with the cheerleaders and she brought the camera back and the charger but not the usb port so no down loading pictures until I get the cord. I have started my blushing granny afghan from the Feb/Mar issue of Crochet today! 2 squares done 33 more to go. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Long time since my last post

Well it has been a long time since my last post. I have not crocheted I did start reading a book Playing My Mother's Blues, by Valerie Wilson Wesley. I like the book and I think if I put my mind to it I can get it read quickly. I am participating in the 50 book challenge hosted by a member of Crochetville. I have a crochet project picked out to start this weekend and it's also girls night out this weekend and we are trying to find somewhere to go that we have not been. I have my partner for the Wild and Woolie Swap at Crochetville so now the search begins for the perfect yarn to send and the extra. I received a great puffy from my dish cloth partner from atmyhouse@yahoo.com posting a picture. I am sure all Harry Potter fans know that the release date has been set for the 7th and final book in the series I can't wait. Friday I plan to visit Barnes&Noble to see if you can put name on the list for a book or if you will have to prepay. In the past you could just request a book at Books a Million you have to prepay to get a book that night. I will have to go to the last midnight party this will be my third party. I did not get started from the beginning with the parties or the books. Happy crocheting and knitting.

This is not the only group that will benefit from crochet and knit tonight. Well its back to work tomorrow and I really wish I did not have to go. Maybe one day I can win the lottery and never have to work again. I am thankful to have a job don't get it twisted I know that there are a lot of people who do not have jobs.

No Crochet again

It has been a week since my last post and over a week since I have crocheted. I am getting slack. I need to do a little crochet but sometime as much as I enjoy crochet it does not help my sometimes my job just sucks the life out of me and I don't want to do anything. I have hit that phase. I am breaking out of it this weekend maybe tomorrow if I wake up and I don't think I will be able to make it back home if I go to work we shall see what the weather hold. On Sunday I plan to participate in the Super Stitch Sunday crochet-a-long at crochetville it is a crochet for charity. I have never done this before and I thought it would be fun and I know that there are a lot of people that don't believe in charity crochet or knitting but the need for these items must be out there if people take the time to do these things. So I have the colors picked out for the squares and yes to all the acrylic haters out in the crochet and knit world that's what I will be using for the squares. Maybe one day soon I will be able to afford natural fibers and use them but for now I can't purchase really wool. It's the thought that counts and if you want to keep warm I really don't think you will turn down an afghan if it is not made from a natural fiber. Anyone who would like to visit crochetville you would be more than welcome visit at www.crochetville.org Happy crocheting and knitting.

Nothing much to say

I have not spent any time on the Loopy Ridges Scarf I will get back to it soon. I am trying to decide which granny squares I plan to crochet on super bowl Sunday. Crochetville has a crochet-a-long going for that Sunday, when you finish the squares you mail them to another lady from the group she will I think stitch squares together to be donated to charity. It is my first effort for charity and my first crochet-a-long I have participated in at the ville. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Loopy Ridges Scarf

It is a wet and cold Sunday. I hope I don't have any problems getting to work tomorrow. I dread going but you have to do what you have to do. I started working on a scarf early this morning a Loopy Ridges Scarf from Margaret Hubert's Hooked Scarves 20 Easy Crochet Projects, I am using Patons Classic wool Merino, the color Regency a very pretty variegated color. I am signed up to participate in my very first Crochetville swap WILD AND WOOLIE! you send your partner wool yarn and your partner sends you wool yarn you can add extras in with you swap so I am trying to think of what I can add and what type of wool to send. Each person that wants to participate in the swap has to fill out a survey telling what your favorite color is and what types of wool yarn you like I have never used any wool except Patons so I am open for anything. You would not believe how many different types of yarn are out in the fiber world. You can even buy soy yarns, just learned this recently. If any one cares to visit crochetville it is for both crocheter and knitters a great place where you can learn lots of things and talk about the project you have done and one you would like to do, very nice people. Go to www.crochetville.org Happy crocheting and knitting!!!

Skinny MInnie

I gave my Sister her Skinny Minnie Scarf today and she really liked the scarf. I forgot to take my camera and so I did not get to take a picture of her in the scarf. So Ginnerfra one of my daughters friends from school is modeling the scarf. I received my Wool-Ease yarn today 5 balls of Fuchsia 137, Soon and very soon I plan to start another scarf from Crochet Scarves! 16 Hip Projects for Dressing Up Your Look. by Candi Jensen the scarf is Blackberry Cobbler I think it is pretty and will make a very nice scarf. I hope the pattern is easy. I still have not heard any thing from the group that was to get started after the New Year I am disappointed I really would like to be a part of a group that meets to crochet and knit together. Well not much to report tonight. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Skinny MInnie Scarf almost complete

Skinny Minnie Scarf almost complete all I need to do is make and add the tassels. I will work on that tomorrow and maybe a little tonight. I had to take a break from the scarf and so I did 2 granny squares. I need to build my swap stash. I plan to start swapping again next month. It has been a great weekend and I don't have to go to work tomorrow. A trip to the beach would have been great this weekend. Nice and warm. I went to another game yesterday and watched my daughter cheer she does a very good job so does the whole team. I wish I could work the camera better but for some reason I can't get it to do right and all the pictures come out to dark it might be the gym it's red. I brought a new book yesterday I used my gift card for Books-A-Million Fabulous & Flirty Crochet, by Katherine Lee. I want to visit a store I discovered online while looking to see if anyone in the area sold GGH Aspen yarn and a yarn shop in Greensboro sales GGH yarns it is Stitch Point I plan to pay them a visit in February. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Skinny Minnie Scarf going well.

The Skinny Minnie Scarf is going well and tonight I plan to add a few more rows. I am fighting the urge to start a granny square until I finish the scarf, I can have no delays when it comes to this scarf my Sister's birthday is the 16th. So this is just a quick post. Long weekend ahead and I am glad. It means extra time to finish the scarf. Happy crocheting and knitting I hope all your project are going great.

Skinny Minnie Scarf underway

The Skinny Minnie Scarf I am making for my Sister is going well I have decided to do the scarf in 1 color Petal Pink Patons Classic Wool Merino. Using 1 color does not give the scarf the dramatic effect multiple colors would but I could not make up my mind if my Sister would like the scarf in more than 1 color. Skinny Minnie is a very long scarf the beginning chain is 449 and has 17 rows of SC. This is going to be a busy week because my Sisters birthday is the 16th so the push is on to finish the scarf by Monday. Monday is a holiday and the agency is closed so I can spend most of the day working on the scarf. Still not sure about the tassels. Oh well only 14 more rows to go. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Saturday night and all is well

I got up this morning to sign up for the Dinner at the Dairy hosted monthly at Goat Lady Dairy. I did not sign up because it cost a little to much for my budget, it is a 5 course meal and they serve lamb, beef, goat cheese of course it sounds great and I really like trying new foods. I just can't do $55.00 per person. So I have to come up with something else to do that I have not done before when it comes to adventure. Today my daughter cheered and I went to the game to see her cheer and to watch the game it was a good game but WSSU lost the game. Then it was off to buy my daughter food the meal plan she has only provides 9 meals a week and trips to the Ram Shack so this means she has to cook for herself sometime. Added to my yarn stash today with a trip to A C Moore brought yarn for an afghan and for the scarf I have planned to make for my sister's birthday. I will start the scarf tomorrow I think maybe tonight I don't know need to do a little reading tonight so I can finish up Needled to death. Happy crocheting and knitting.

First Friday Night 2007

I am so glad it's the weekend. It has been a long week and I only worked 4 days this week. Today I think I have finally figured out how to change my picture on my layout after I sent an email stating that I could not figure out what I was doing wrong. Oh well that's the way it goes I guess. I found out something very interesting today while looking in the phone book Caraway has an Alpaca Farm and you can visit, in May they have a special event Caraway Alpaca Spring Open Barn I visited the website www.carawayalpaca.com also sent an email about the event and if they send a newsletter or emails to remind you of special events. Another thing I discovered while looking in the phonebook was Goat Lady Dairy www.goatladydairy.com at this farm they host Dinner at the Dairy tomorrow is the first day for online sign up and I plan to get up so that I can sign up for Dinner at the Dairy, you can get a tour of the dairy also I don't think it is the same night as the dinner. Another place to visit Rising Meadow Farm www.risingmeadow.com also has special events and I emailed to find out if the public can attend a February if you don't want to participate in the shearing and just watch. I hope you can I have never been on a working farm of any kind and it would be nice to see a farm in action and to see where all the wonderful natural fibers so many people crochet and knit with get their start and maybe buy from a local who spins or dyes natural fibers. I hope I get a response soon. Last night I tried to start an afghan with Bernat Super Stripes yarn it is a self stripping yarn and I have a great pattern for a ripple afghan but the yarn is bulky and has a rough texture very hard to see your stitches and I think it will take more skill than I have at this time to make this afghan so I am putting off this project for now also tried a scarf pattern with the same yarn and that did not go well either. So now I am trying to come up with another big project. Tomorrow I plan to visit A C Moore I need to buy more yarn for my sister scarf her birthday is the 16th and I want 2 colors for the scarf. I am using Patons Classic Wool Merino 100% wool. I have the Petal Pink I want to get a darker pink or white possible off white, maybe all 3 I think all 3 will make a great color combination. The pattern I plan to use is Skinny Minnie from Candi Jensen's pattern book Crochet Scarves! a nice simple SC. I will post a picture when the scarf is complete. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Three days into the new year

Well I hope the first week of the new year is going well for everybody and that going back to work after the holidays has not been to bad. My week started off a little rough but only two more days to go and its the weekend baby. My daughter went back to school today and so the house is very quite and I can see my living room floor once more she comes home with a lot of stuff. I don't know whats wrong with blogger lately but for some reason I cant change the picture of my afghan in my page layout and I can't add a picture of my self and my daughter to the bottom of my page. I finally get a digital camera and now I am having problems uploading my pictures to my layout. If I can add they to my post don't know why I can't add to my lay out and can't find the answer to my question on blogger and I know this is dumb but I can't figure out how to ask about this problem. If I need to re size the pictures I am still lost. Finally did some crochet yesterday made a scarf for my daughter to give for her secret Santa gift to a fellow cheerleader. I don't know why they waited until after Christmas maybe so they could go home and ask their parents for money. Still reading the book Needled to Death by Maggie Sefton it is a very good book and I like mysteries with out the CSI thing just don't think I can handle to many gory details I like to keep it light when I read. I will attempt to post a picture of the scarf I made yesterday the yarn is Cheerio by Moda.Dea 1 ball Onyx and 1 ball Pearl a hdc(half double crochet) it works up very easily and quickly. I think you can find the pattern for the scarf at www.modadea.com it should be a free pattern Crocheted Scarf LM0116 the designed by Judy Hice.

Happy New Year !!!!!!!!!

Well its 2007 and everyone has high hopes for the new year. I am hoping for some things to change in my life and I hope they are for the good. I am tired of struggling when it comes to money I want to have enough money to get the bills paid and go to the grocery store something that has not happened to me in the last 20 years only on certain occasions such as tax refunds and now as I look back on it if I was crazy enough to go to a loan company an borrow money to catch up my bills or pay off a few and I was crazy several times. Well maybe good things will happen not many have in my life. Yes I know I am in a lot better shape than a lot of people because I see it every day and they are in better shape than some. I am thankfull I have a job and a house even if it could use some work, and a car so I can get back and forth to work. I have not crochet in over a week trying to enjoy the time I have to spend with my daughter and the time we spent at the beach to busy looking at the ocean to crochet while at the beach.

2007 Almost

Well here we are the last day of the year only a few hours to go before the new year. I wish I could say that my year had gone better that the year before but it was not any better and yes before anybody gets started I know that my life is better than so many people trust me I do its just that by this age I though I would be better than I am doing at this present time. Started reading my book today so far so good only read a few pages. I have no big plans to bring in the new year just watch TV and drink a little champagne at midnight. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Saturday

Well its Saturday and I am still wishing I was at the beach. I am at home trying not to get depressed about the fact that I have to go to work on Tuesday. Well all good things must come to an end. Well I am sad to say that I have not crocheted since before Christmas I should get back to it soon. The library called today and my inter library loan was in and I went by to pick it up it is the second in a knitting series by Maggie Sefton Needled to Death. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Home again

Well my time at the beach is over and I am at home and I really miss the sound of the waves and looking out over the ocean. It was a good ride back to NC and I am already thinking about going back for my birthday in February. I really wish I could sale my house and move to Myrtle beach. I did look on the Horry County Department of Social Services Web Site but they did not have any food assistance positions(new name for the food stamp program). I don't think the job prospects in Myrtle Beach is any better than they are in NC. If I could sale my house as is and get any money out of it I would and find a job in myrtle beach I would throw caution to the wind and not fear the future and move try and find an ocean front condo or something only a few minute away from the beach I would go everyday to the beach. I have not crocheted since last Thursday just did not have time spent my nights walking the beach, blogging and playing Scrabble with my daughter also UNO I have never understood UNO even as a Young adult when I think we first discovered the game in my neighborhood. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Rainy Christmas Day

Well it rained most of the day today so I did not get to spend a lot of time on the beach. I got to stand on the balcony and look out at the ocean at high tide wow. Seagulls where out not to many people out in the rain. We tried to go see a movie in the downpour but when we got there the movie we wanted to see was not playing. So we came back to the room to eat we have a full kitchen so we cooked today. Tomorrow night crab legs can't with I love crab legs! I did not get to take any pictures today.
