It's Friday Eve!

It is time to get happy. It is the moment I have been waiting for since Monday morning. Last night I cast on for the first time in a very long time, just a dishcloth. It is the Shapely Diamond from Leisure Arts Kitchen Bright Dishcloths. Maybe tonight I will knit the first row. I have two current reads, the first The Ex Files, by Victoria Christopher Murray, and the second is the first in a new series A Crafty Killing it is A Victoria Square Mystery, by Lorraine Bartlett. I picked up the book today at Books-A-Million. So just like always here in North Carolina we go from the 80's to the 50's during the day and tommorow morning we have a chance to go down to freezing . I have trays of lettuce that I want to plant and I think I should wait a few day. I hope my fig tree will be okay. Just because I think this post needs a picture I am posting a picture of the salt fish (salt mullet) we brought about 2 weeks ago to cook. It was great we had fish and grits(its a southern thing) The pictures are from before cooking. Happy Friday Eve!

Let the planting begin!

On Sunday I put a few tomato seeds in starter pots. One of the tomato's is a grape type tomato, Jelly Bean Hybrid and a Red Cherry. I hope I have better luck than the last time I had no luck at all trying to start seedlings. This weekend I plan to put my lettuce in pots and the arugula seed I brought this past weekend. Still no knitting or crochet but I am trying to get in the mood again. Just finished reading Acting out, by Benilde Little. It was a great read and tonight before I go to bed I plan to start reading The Ex Files, by Victoria Christopher Murray. I am trying to plan my container garden and my in the ground. I plan to cast on by this weekend. I am glad tomorrow is Wednesday and the week will be half way to the finish, it has been a long week already.

Birthday Girl

Today is my Daughter's birthday. She is 24 today. She was born exactly one month after my birthday so every year except during Leap year her birthday an mine always come up on the same day of the week. She was here yesterday for the Kwanias pancake day. We have been to almost every pancake day since she was 3 she missed one year while she was in college. The Kiwanis do great things for the community. One thing they do is give scholarships to high school seniors for college. My daughter received one her freshman year and it was a big help to her. I plan to go every year that I can and buy a ticket even if I don't eat the pancakes. Still no knitting or crochet, but I am reading. I just finished reading Good Hair by, Benilde Little. It was a great book and good read. My current read Lady Jasmine, by Victoria Christopher Murray. I had never heard of this author but I am enjoying the read. I picked up today from the I library through inter library loan Acting Out , by Benilde Little. I plan to start the book this weekend. My plan is to do a little yard work and plant some lettuce in a round planter, then get back on my Christmas gift dishcloth's that I started at the beginning of the year. I am still trying to work my way out of my funk. I brought the new one- skein wonders book and it is great. I have my eye on a project may be two. One on page 210 and the second on page 221.

February is a bad month for me.

February is a bad month for me. I was born in February and every year I feel so depressed. I am happy that I am not dead, but I spend most of my time wondering what purpose I am serving. I have not spent any time crocheting or knitting the entire month. I have spent time reading. I have read The Itch, by Benilde Little and I am reading Who Does She Think She Is? by Benilde Little since my last post. A lot has happened since my last post. A very dear friend of my had what I think was a stroke. This was very upsetting because less than two hours before this we were together and did not seem to have any problems. I get a call from my daughter and she told me I needed to go to the hospital. Life is a fragile thing. I need to knit or crochet. If I could push myself to knit or crochet I think I would feel better. It is very hard to do the things you enjoy when you feel like your very life is being sucked away almost seven days a week. My mother and I went to Costco and Harris Teeter this weekend. I love both stores. I paid a visit to Borders too. The Borders in Greensboro is closing. When the store closes the closes store to me will be in Winston Salem. I brought the book Sock Yarn One-Skein Wonders. I feel so sad that at 47 I am not in a better place. I feel bad that I don't know how to move into a better place and be satisfied with my life. I still can't help but wonder how things would have been for me if I had been born smart enough to go to college. I got rid of my gray today. I put a semi permanent dye on my hair. I am trying to go natural and I am afraid to go ahead and do the big chop. This means cut all the relaxed hair out and just leave the natural unrelaxed hair. My plan is to make myself knit or crochet next week. I need out of this funk.

Birthday Girl!

It's her birthday! Her first birthday one year old! She is such a big girl now. She weights 3 pounds! Cece is the birthday girl! I finally finished A Holiday Yarn, by Sally Goldenbaum it was a great read and I could not believe who the killers was it took my by surprise. I feel lost now with no book to read. I received a postcard about a book in the mail last week, The postcard states it is a new series from Lorraine Bartlett, it is according to the postcard A Victoria Square Mystery A Crafty Killing as stated it is the first in the new series. Watching American Idol and I love the show. I plan to knit a few rows on my scarf tonight. It is almost done.

A lot of Rain

We have had a lot of rain this weekend. My daughter modeled brides maids dresses today. It was during the Carolina Bride Show. We had a great time at the show. I thought my daughter looked great all the brides maid dresses. A lot of the people at the show had samples of food you could have at your wedding. So after the show I came home and knit a few rows on a scarf I started a few weeks ago. I am still reading A Holiday Yarn, by Sally Goldenbaum. I finished reading Spun by Sorcery , by Barbara Bretton. It was a great read. I loved the end of the book. I think another book in the series is coming. If you have not read the series you should read it. Start with Casting Spells, then Laced With Magic, the third is Spun by Sorcery . This is a picture of my cousin Meaghan Ayala she is holding a Gingerbread Man Rice Krispies Treat my daughter made over the holiday's. Meaghan is my Aunt's Granddaughter. She loves to spend time with her Great Aunt Peggy, my Mother.

Quick post !

My knitting and crochet have shut down. Over the last almost 2 weeks. I have spent most of my time reading and watching tv. I am reading my copy of Spun by Sorcery, by Barbara Bretton. It is a great book and I am really enjoying the read. I need to get back to my knitting. When you have to work you can't spend a much time as you would like on things you really care about. I have a job because if I did not I would be homeless. I need to start buying lottery tickets and maybe one day I will win big.

A Cold Day

We had a very sunny but cold day in our area of North Carolina. We got up got dressed to and made a trip to Costco. On the drive to Costoco we listened to CarTalk. I love the car guys and love to listen to them on Saturday they are so funny. The samples did not seem as good today. Still I enjoyed the trip, had to get more chicken stock and garlic powder. We decided to try out the Kirkland brand dish washing liquid. Brought a great looking pork roast and cornbeef brisket. After the mail ran today I received a wonderful surprise the book I have been waiting for Spun by Sorcery, by Barbara Bretton. I have read the first 2 books in the series and love them. Who could resist a witch that knits and owns a yarn shop. Tonight we made sausage and kale soup. I found the recipe in Woman's Day the November issue. It is a great recipe and we enjoyed it. Added a few rows to a Feather and Fan Dishcloth, I started last night. My plan is to knit a lot of dishcloths through this year and stock up and then I will have a ready made supply for my sister and mother in case they want to give them out as Christmas presents this year.

A Night Out

I was very lazy today and spent most of the day in bed. I did not go to bed today until 3:00 am and then I woke up at 10:00 turned on the tv and watched an old movie after the movie was over, I cut the tv off and went back to sleep. I got up in time to shower and get ready to go out to eat with some of my fellow co-worker and some of their family. We went to Synder Farms restaurant. I had never been to this restaurant and to tell the truth I had never heard of the place until a few weeks ago and I have lived in Randolph County for 24 years in July. The food was good just simple home cooking, the salad bar was very good. I had a good time talking and visiting with my co workers and their family. How I am at home knitting, watching 48 hours A Mystery. Last night I cast on another Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth in the Christmas mix yarn, and I tried to knit a Bias Scarf out of the Pomp-a-Doodle yarn my daughter brought me for Christmas. I might try again tonight. I think it is possible if I concentrate. Still reading A Holiday Yarn, by Sally Goldenbaum. I called Books-A-Million to check on the book I ordered and found out they did not have my order on file so the book was not ordered. I had to reorder and will have to wait almost 2 weeks to get my book. It is Spun By Sorcery, by Barbara Bretton. This is a long weekend our office is closed on Monday for the Martin Luther King Holiday. I am not very sleepy so I need to find a good movie.

I am ready for a warm up!

It is cold here and I am ready for things to warm up and thaw out. We had snow early Monday morning and on and off through out the day, ending with a little sleet and freezing rain very early Tuesday morning. It was not a lot but just enough to make driving hard and getting into my drive way very hard, my driveway is not paved so this makes it hard to get back in the driveway after I get out. So I am ready for the temperature's to stay above freezing at night so the snow and ice that melts during the day will not refreeze. Had the chance at lunchtime today to knit and talk with my fellow coworkers. A woman that use to work at social services died Sunday, she was only 42 and had a lot of health problems. I wanted to go to her visitation tonight but since I had such a hard time on my icy driveway and worrying about black ice on the roads I did not attend. I really liked her a lot. She was to me a very warm friendly person, and funny. I always enjoyed talking to her in the hallways and during lunch breaks. She was a pretty woman with a great smile. She will be missed. This is the scarf I cast on Monday during my snow day. It is coming along nicely and I want to finish it this weekend. It has grown since this picture. Even with the knit two edge it is curling just a little but it is all good. I am on my way to bed to do a little reading. I am still reading A Holiday Yarn, by Sally Goldenbaum it is a great read. If I could spend all my time reading I am sure I would have finished the book by now. I need to check on my book I order at Books a Million. I think I will stop by after work tomorrow.

A Wonderful Snow Day!

Early this morning it started to snow. When I woke up around 6:00 am the street in front of my house was covered with snow, so I turned on the TV and watched to see if our office was under a delay I could not believe it when our agency was closed. So I went online to our website and all offices were closed. We are under a 2 hour delay tomorrow. The day was great because after finding out the office was closed I went back to bed watched the new, listened to the radio, I went back to sleep. When I finally got out of bed for the day I had the house to myself. My day was spent watching it snow, watching old movies, on the Internet, and knitting. I really needed a day to myself. My Mother left yesterday to stay with her Sister for the week. While she is in Montgomery County she will visit with her Mother, My Grandmother. So I will have the house to myself all week. I really enjoy time by myself. My knitting was nothing major, I finished another dishcloth and I wanted to cast on a scarf but a friend called and spent some time on the phone. All of my Monday night show turned out to be re runs so I watched another old movie. Well off to spend a few minutes reading before going to bed.

A Very Cold and Windy Saturday

Today has been a very cold and windy day. Today was sort of grocery shopping day. We needed to pick up a few things we started at Walmart, then on to Bottom Dollar, Lowe's Food, and Food Lion. When you live in a small town it is hard to do one stop shopping. We decided to do a stir fry of sorts for dinner tonight and I wanted bean sprouts well Walmart, Bottom Dollar, Food Lion out of luck they do not have bean sprouts only Lowe's Food in this area. The winter mix missed us yesterday so no snow flurries. I am not so sure we are going to be as lucky on Monday! Finished up the Pomp A Doodle Scarf last night and I think it is to short. The pattern on the band only calls for 1 skein of yarn and on the RedHeart website the pattern calls for 2 skeins. I plan to use it anyway. I brought Cece a snuggy sack for Christmas, so I am posting a picture of puppy cuteness.

Pomp-a-Doddle Part 2

It is Friday Eve and I am very happy about this fact. It has been a long week at work. My Pomp-a-Doodle scarf is progressing. It is so cute. I know it is knit out of a novelty yarn but who cares. This is North Carolina and it is only a few weeks out of the year that we have seriously cold weather and need true natural fiber heavy duty scarves and hats. The plan is to finish this scarf and try a crochet scarf out of the same yarn just a different color. Still reading A Holiday Yarn. Updated picture of my scarf. Still trying to get over my disappointment about not becoming a millionaire. My daughter brought two Mega Millions lottery tickets and we planned to share the winnings, but no such luck. Well we plan to try again later.

Pomp-A-Doodle

Cast on for the first time this year. My daughter gave me four skeins of Red Heart Pomp-A-Doodle yarn in different colors, I already had one skein that I had purchased. So when I purchased my skein I could not figure out how to get started and was about to lose hope when the thought came to me to go to YouTube, found a video on how to knit with Pomp-A-Doodle. I watched the video over and over again, but I did not start a scarf because I had a big dishcloth project going. Well tonight I watched the video and cast on using a skein that my daughter gave me for Christmas. It took several attempts but I think I have figured it out and have added a few rows. I am using the Red Velvet, so far so good. The pattern for the scarf was on the back of the band. You cast on twelve so the scarf is not very wide, the picture on the band looks a lot wider than my scarf. It does not matter I think the scarf will turn out great. I am trying to decided if I will keep the scarf or give it to my co-worker she wears a lot of scarves to work. The video was a lot of help. It took a few viewing before things came together. Still reading A Holiday Yarn.

So Not Ready

I am not ready to go back to work. We have had a nice long weekend the office was closed on Friday. Now it's back to work on Monday. Slept late today talked to my daughter around 1:00 pm and then got up got dressed went to Walmart and to get the Sunday papers. Not much in either one that was interesting. The only thing was a woman gave birth to twins one born at 11:58 and the other 2 minutes later. So she has one new years baby and on tax deduction. How cool is that. I cooked dinner tonight nothing serious just Manhattan Catfish Chowder it is an old recipe that I have done several times. No knitting or crochet today. I did read a few pages of A Holiday Yarn. I will read for a while later tonight. I am watching OWN the new network that Oprah started. So far so good. I want to have a better year this year. So I want to work very hard to figure out what to do to have a better. If I could find a part time or a work at home job to get a few of my bills paid that would help. if I became healthier that would help, lose some weight , cut down on my wine intake, knit and crochet more, exercise more. So tomorrow after work the plan is to go to the gym and renew my contract. Then make myself go and exercise weather I want to or not and I hate exercise. Tomorrow in your department we are planning to try something different to get all the new and ongoing cases processed. We are hoping for this plan will work. My plan is to knit or crochet with all the yarn I currently have in my stash and not spend any extra money so that I can get out of debt. We shall see how things go.

Happy New Year

It's the New Year!!! and I am trying to stay positive and not get depressed on the first day of the year. We just finished the traditional New Years Day meal. My sister, her husband and their children. It is also my sister and her husbands anniversary, they have been married 26 years today. So no reading crochet or knitting today. My sister and the the girls just left. We had a champagne. It turned out to be a pretty good day. I did not get anything done in my bedroom, my plan was to clean my room. I did get some of the recycling out of the room and most of my towels washed. I think I will settle down and read tonight.

Only A Few Hours Left

It seems so strange to my that we have only a few hours left before 2010 comes to an end. Every year I like to look back and see how things went for the year. One good thing I still have my job, and I am not homeless. The first half of the year I was very good about going to the gym but after June things went down hill and I did not go as much. I did not make it at all this month. I received my letter about renewing my membership this week. I think I will renew and make myself go I need to lose weight and get healthy. I have lost some weight I think? If I have my calculations correct I have read 22 books and 11 have been yarn, knit, or crochet related. My knit and crochet remain about the same. Could be better than I think. If I have my totals correct I have knit 34 dishcloths, 11 baby washcloths, 4 scarves. On the crochet front half a scarf, 2 star afghan, 1 shell afghan. Sadly the socks that I have been attempting to finish since I took a sock class in 2009 did not make it off the UFO list. Well it could happen next year. A few road trips. 1 two see a waterfall, a great flea market/vegetable market. 2 open barns. I got the chance to pet an Alpaca and a llama. So not a bad year still no more money than I had last year, we will see what happens in the new year. A bottle of champagne in the refrigerator waiting for the ball to drop.

Another Wonderful Long Weekend

Today was a very long day and it marked the end of my working year. You know a person can get use to a three day work week and get paid for five. This week and last week. My daughter thinks I should keep the scarf the same. This is just a quick post to tell everybody to have a great weekend and a happy New Year. Tomorrow I will post my crafting year in review.

Last Tuesday of The Year

Well we had a 2 hour delay due to the weather and the office opened at 10:00 am. Even with the late start it was a very long day. I had afternoon inquiry, this means any client with questions about their case can come in and ask and it is your job as the inquiry person to try and answer the question. It was a very steady stream of people this afternoon. So I was very busy and I did not get a case processed. So tomorrow morning and for the rest of the day I have to try and get cases opened and some cases processed. Only two processing day's left in the year. Still working on the new scarf but I am thinking about ripping it out. I have four row's per color and the pattern only has two. I think maybe the scarf would look better with two rows of each color. Maybe I'll wait until my Daughter comes through if she does over the weekend to ask her what she thinks. This is what I love about North Carolina weather snow this past weekend and almost 60 degrees this coming weekend! I finally finished and gave Karen her scarf a few weeks ago. Karen my friend at work gave Cece to Kendra. I wanted to give her a scarf an because I am lazy it took a while for me to finish the scarf. I am posting a picture of Karen modeling the scarf. The picture really does not show the details of the scarf very well, but it is the best I could get. The pattern is from Crazy Aunt Purls Drunk, Divorced, and Covered in Cat Hair by Lori Perry. It is the Magic Scarf. The yarn is Patons Classic Wool the color Gray.

The long weekend is over.

I have had a nice long weekend. It is coming to a close. It is back to work tomorrow but only for 3 days. I dread tomorrow because the office was closed on Friday and on Monday so people will come into the office tomorrow in large number's I am trying to prepare myself. Most of the time I get these days off. This year I lost my mind and did not ask in time to get the days off. Next year I won't let this happen again. Slept late today then made my way to Sally's Beauty Supply to get a new blow dryer, and hair roller. I am trying to go natural, note the word try. Maybe I should say semi natural . This means I am trying to grow out my relaxer, I have not had a relaxer since I think May or June? This means my hair has not been straighten with chemicals since then. I did start letting my Mother straighten my hair with a pressing comb in October this is why I say I am going semi natural. Natural would mean leaving my hair kinky. the ease of care depends on how easy it is to take care of your hair. So after I washed my hair I gave my self a deep conditioning treatment then my Mother blow dried and pressed my hair. This is a form of straighting the hair. This means you use a pressing oil and a hot comb to straighten the hair. If you are interested in the process you might be able to look it up on YouTube I am not sure. I added a few rows to my scarf today and I plan to read a little tonight right before bed. I am posting a picture of my Daughter trying to knit a dishcloth. She would not look up so I could get a good shoot of her face. Only 5 days left until the new year.

The Day After Christmas

Well it was a lovely day after Christmas. Last night we watched it snow late into the morning. Around 2:30 we went to bed. I think later on it started to snow again. I received a 5:00am call from my daughter she was coming back from taking her boyfriend to work we had a conversation about her drive and then off the phone. Slept late got up and made my way to the store. I could tell that it had continued to snow during the night. So all the grass was covered with snow when I got up this morning, that is good for my little corner of North Carolina. It was the first time in a very long time that it has snowed in NC on Christmas Day. Today the snow continued for a few hours after 12:00 the roads are clear and I don't think people will have any problems traveling. I am so happy that our office is closed tomorrow. So only a 3 day work week ahead. Our office is closed on Friday for New Years Day. I cast on a scarf yesterday. My Daughter gave me some yarn from Lionbrand Hometown USA the pattern is on the back to the yarn band. It is a ribbed scarf. She gave me 2 skeins of Monterey Lime and 2 Detroit Blue. I think this will make a great scarf! . I am posting a picture of the Christmas Snow. It is the first Christmas Snow in a very long time.

Merry Christmas

It is Christmas Day! I hope everyone has a great day. Christmas Eve was great I got up early and my Daughter, Mother, and I went to the nursing home to visit my Grandmother, she is of course my Daughter's Great Grandmother, and of course my Mother's Mother. She is 94 and seemed to be in a pretty good mood. After this we came back home and started cooking the double bash of Chili. I did all my chopping onions, peppers and garlic the day before. I don't have an original recipe. I love a recipe for chili that I found in a cookbook years ago. The cookbook is 365 Ways To Cook Hamburger And Other Ground Meats, Rick Rodgers, the recipe is # Red's Secret Ingredient Chili. The secret ingredient is a tall bottle of Mexican dark beer. The family loves it! My Daughter's boyfriend came and we all had a great time. We got up this morning opened presents and then my Daughter and her Boyfriend went to his parents house. My Mother and I have spent a quite day at home trying to find something to watch of tv. I am not sure why I pay for cable I can never find a good movie. I wanted to watch some of the old school Christmas movies but I can't find any to watch. We are under a winter storm advisory. So I hope we get the chance to see snow. I lost my dishcloth war. I did not get all the dishcloths my Mother wanted done. I did get enough done so that she can give each one two cloths apiece.

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

It is vacation time.

So I am off work until next Tuesday. I love it! I worked very hard this week to get as many case as I can processed. A nice long weekend is enough for me. I keep trying to get all my dishcloths knit but I think it is to late my Mother needs to settle for one or two dishcloths per person. No reading no scarf knitting. Trip to Siler City planned for tomorrow, So that we can go to the Piggly Wiggly. We are hoping to find some pig parts that are very important to our New Year's day dinner. The plan for tomorrow is to get up and start chopping the onions, garlic, red bell pepper, and jalapeno for the chili. I still need to pick up the hamburger and chili powder. I should be able to pick these up at the Pig. The family get together on Christmas Eve needs a good pot of chili.

Winter Begins

I set the alarm to wake up around 1:15 to see if I could see the lunar eclipse. So I got up put on my coat and went out my back door and looked up to nothing but clouds. You could not see the moon. I know I will live to see another lunar eclipse, but not a lunar eclipse during a the winter solstice. According to records today's eclipse was the first since the 1600's and the next will happen in 80 years. So I will not live to see this event again. Cast off a green dishcloth and cast on another green dishcloth. My Daughter and Cece arrived tonight and I gave her a refresher on how to cast on again and she is trying to help me with the rest of the dishcloths. Tomorrow is my last day of work for the week. I will return to work to work on Tuesday. One day I will finish these dishcloth and be able to knit a scarf again. It will be nice to spend a few days with my daughter. The things we ordered from ABC distributing arrived tonight and I have the things I ordered for my daughter in my closet. Well it is time to go to bed so I am off to bed. Still thinking about knitting dishcloths.

Monday, December 20, 2010

A Cloudy Night

It is getting cloudy. So this means I will not get to view the Lunar Eclipse. If I have all the information correct we will not see another total lunar eclipse during the winter solstice for another 80 years. The best viewing time will be at 1:30 am. All the weather people say the clouds are setting in and we will miss the eclipse. I love good lunar eclipse. I had the chance to see one when my daughter was about 10 or 9 I think. I can't remember if it was a total or partial. On the bright side I have only two working days left this week! Still working on my Mother's dishcloths. I have all six red dishcloths finished. Now I have cast on a green I have four green dishcloths left to knit. Also 4 mistletoe dishcloths left. My plan is to spend a little time reading right before bed. I am watching the Reginald Owen version of a Christmas Carol, I recorded it earlier. I Don't understand why no one seems to have the Alastair Sims version showing so far, or the Patrick Stewart version. Off to take a shower check the moon and do some reading.

A Three Day Work Week

All I need to do to make it through my work week is to keep thinking just three days. The office is closed on Friday and I requested Thursday. So this means lots of hard work for the three days I have to work this coming week. I will try to process as many cases as I possible can. I had a great afternoon, I went to my Daughter's Church for a Christmas program she sings in one of the choir's. It was a great program the choir sang and the praise danced of course danced, and someone read the Christmas story for the Bible. After the program my Mother and I made our way back home with a stop at Walmart. My Daughter plans to come here Tuesday night and stay I think through Christmas Morning. Then she will go with her boyfriend to his families house. I have 10 and a half of my Mother's dishcloths done. So still knitting dishcloths.

My Daughter and Me

I meet my daughter at A C Moore today. We went to Costco. I love Costco! The samples were great. To many people but still a great time at Costco. I brought Babybels, Oxiclean, Salmon, and Catfish fillet's. Then the plan was to go to Friendly Shopping Center because my daughter was not finished shopping for her boyfriend and his brother. We had to separate cars and left Costco to meet each other at Friendly. Well I thought we would meet at the Bread Company and my daughter thought we would meet at Macaroni Grill. So we spent an hour looking for each other. So after we found each other we went to Macaroni Grill and it was great. Then to Belk so that my daughter could shop. She found most of the things she wanted for her boyfriend and for his brother and his father. It was a great day. While we s shopped we had a few snow flurries and a great time together. After we separated she went on to do more shopping and I went home. I stopped by Books-a-Million to pick up a book I ordered. Then home Asheboro received a few more flurries than Greensboro. Another 15 dishcloths to for fill my Mother's order. We will see how things go. I am watching A Christmas Carol the Reginald Owen version. My favorite is the Alastair Sims version so far no one on tv has the Alastair Sims version . Still knitting dishcloth's.

A litte Snow, A little Sleet, A little Freezing Rain.

Today in North Carolina we had a mix of snow and freezing rain. I live almost in the middle of the state we had a tiny bit of snow and then freezing rain. Today for the first time since I have worked at my agency our office opened on a 2 hour delay! It was a great feeling not to worry about trying to get to work under icy conditions. It has always been the policy at my job to make your on decision about getting to work on time or not coming to work during hazardous weather. Yes only a few inches of snow or sleet is considered hazardous in this part of North Carolina. So today I did not have to worry about all of that and got to work at 10:00 without any trouble. Finished and started another dishcloth today. So I cm still pressing on with the dishcloth thing. I need more Dark Pine(green), and I think that will do it. I have to knit 4 more dishcloth in Mistletoe, and I have 4 balls of Mistletoe. You can get almost 2 dishcloths out of one ball of Sugar n Cream. I found a great pattern for a Christmas tree knit dishcloth pattern on Ravelry yesterday but it is to late to try this pattern this year. So sometime after the year year I plan to give it a shoot. I have plans to meet my Daughter in Greensboro go to Costco and then have lunch. Only 3 days of work next week!

North Carolina Weather

It is cold in North Carolina and tomorrow morning we have a chance for snow, sleet and freezing rain. It is suppose to start before daybreak tomorrow. Still knitting dishcloth's for my Mother and I am glad I still have almost a week to get them done. I don't think she plans to give the dishcloths on Christmas day. This is okay since people visit and give gift until the New Year. I am working a green Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth. I decided to knit all Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth they are quick and easy 12 more to go if I get 3 dishcloths for all 6 people she want to give dishcloths. Brought the Bisquick and Jimmy Dean Hot sausage because it is the Holidays and time for sausage balls! Pick up the Cheese last weekend. I love sausage balls. Only Three days of work next week a vacation day on Thursday, the office is closed on Friday and Monday for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I am trying my best to get as many cases as I can processed by next Wednesday. Let us hope for the best.

What do you wish for?

Sometimes I wish I could tell people to kiss my natural black ass! It is not nice or polite but sometimes I feel this is something I would like to say. Just needed to get that off my chest. I had to rip out the dishcloth I have been working on for my December dishcloths are us swap partner. I have a backup cloth and I guess I will send it off this weekend. So that I can continue to knit the dishcloths for my Mother. I must admit I am tired and depressed this always happens at this time of the year. I took my car to another shop today and he told me the same thing as the rest $1500.00 to fix my car's problem with the heat and the air. This is to much money for me and I will have to live with the problem. The mechanic did tell me that all I needed to do was stick my hand under something in the car to switch the heat and the air and that's what I will need to do. I don't think my car is worth $1500.00 . This is to much for me to pay to get my car repaired. Never ever have I had this much money in my checking account and I never will. I live hand to mouth. Always have and I always will. Still working on my mothers dishcloths.

Still Knitting Dishcloths

Well I finished the dishcloth's for my Sister and told my Mother she needs to cut her order down on her order at the very least to two per person. The day's before Christmas are growing short. We shall see how things go. I am still working on my swap partner's dishcloth plan is to work on the swap partner dishcloth tomorrow and the rest of the week and put on a big push over the weekend to finish the dishcloths for my Mother. I think she will need to settle for two dishcloths per person. We shall see things go. Promise to keep you posted on the dishcloths.

Costco!

Great day for a trip to Costco. So many people. Great sample's. The house is now well stocked with olive oil, chicken stock, cat food, and laundry detergent. I love Costco. Took the car to the shop yesterday and I have a temporary fix to my heating problem. To fix the problemwith the heat and be able to switch to air this summer will cost me $1500.00 my car is not worth that much. So this week I plan to take the car to another place to see if I can get the work done cheaper. I don't know what I will do if I can't . I can not afford to make a car payment and I live in NC and can't go without air conditioning when summer comes around again. Still working on the dishcloths for my Mother and Sister. Paid a visit to A C Moore today and All the holiday yarn was gone. I really wanted some to knit a few scarves. After this we made our way to Harris Teeter, I really like Harris Teeter and hate that Harris Teeter closed here in Asheboro several years ago. Walmart took it out I think. I am almost finished with dishcloth number 6 out of 8 for my sister. I need to have her dishcloths finished by Monday. So all of them are Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth. It is a pattern that you can knit quickly. I have another week almost to to knit my mothers. Books-A-Million did not have the books I was looking for so I ordered one of the books of course it has a knitting theme and I should get it right before Christmas. Another year is almost over. That have I accomplished? I will let you know in the next few weeks if I feel like I have accomplished anything.

A Great Mid Week Break

After work today I made a trip to Hobby Lobby to pick up more yarn for my Mother and Sister's dishcloths. Brought a great set of Rosewood Travel Needles US size 7/ 4.50, they are very pretty and I had a 40% off coupon I could use. The needles are a great size for a dishcloth. After the trip to Hobby Lobby I drove to Greensboro to meet my Daughter to pick up every bodies Pampered Chef items. After she arrived and gave me the ordered we decided to go to OutBack Steakhouse, I really enjoyed the time I spent talking to my daughter. The meal was great. We had to appetizers Ahi Tuna and Cheese Artichoke Pizza, both really good. The Entree Steak slices on Focaccia Sandwich with cheese really good too and the dipping sauce. Still trying to find a simple dog sweater pattern and a co worker told me she would look through pattern books she think she remembers seeing a simple sweater. Added a few rows to my swap partners dishcloth at lunchtime today. I have to take the car to the shop tomorrow and if the repair is something I can get done while I wait I should get in good knitting time.

Planning a trip to Costco for Saturday

We need to restock. It is time to buy olive oil, sugar, chicken broth, sea salt, laundry detergent. Can't wait to try the samples. After Costco maybe a trip to A C Moore and Olive Garden. We shall see what happens I need to take the car to the shop, the heat does not seem to be working. On a bright sunny day this is not a problem, but it does create a problem when you are on you way to work at 7:40 am and it is 19 degrees. Progressed to row 16 for my dishcloth swap partner. I keep getting the overwhelming need to cast on a scarf and I can't I have to many dishcloths to knit. Tomorrow after work I will pick up a few balls of green cotton and few more red, and Christmas mix. The end of the year approaches. So many things to do so little time.

I would love to skip Monday's

The day was long and hard. I wish I could skip Monday's. After a long day at work I came home to sit in front of the tv. Then watched The View and Dr Phil. I have cast on a dishcloth for my dishcloths ar us swap partner. I received a very pretty dishcloth from my swap partner today . I am not as fast as she is so I her dishcloth will get mailed next week. I am searching for a dog sweater pattern. A very easy pattern. My fur grandchild needs a sweater. The pattern needs to be small for a chihuhua a small but not a toy. I have a pattern it is from 2008 knitting Calendar. The pattern name Howie's Knit-To-Fit Doggie Sweater. If you have tried this pattern please give me tips. It is cold in North Carolina it is the perfect time to pull out all the knit and crochet hats and scarves. I can't seem to find one of my favorite scarves. It is red and black self stripping scarf from a discontinued yarn. I still have a few skeins so I will be able to knit another scarf if I can find the pattern. My search for the pattern will start tomorrow. Cast off a Feather and Fan Dishcloth yesterday and I need to cast on another tomorrow. I think I need another set of US 7 needles. I have a 40% off coupon for Hobby Lobby I can use to get the needles. So many things to do so little time to do them.

First Snow

Asheboro had it's first snow. It was very pretty and it did not last for very long. We had just come home from a trip to the Fish Market and Grocery Store. I think it might have lasted 30 minutes. The snow is gone now. I was great to watch. I am enjoying some time alone in the house. My Mother went to her Sister's for the night and I am home alone. I love having the house to myself. I confess that I have not spent to much time knitting dishcloth's today. I did add at least three rows to the Feather and Fan Dishcloth that I started. I plan is to work on it while watching 48 Hours a Mystery tonight. I cast on three different time a scarf out of Patos pooch yarn I have only one ball. I brought it on sale a long time ago and now the yarn has been discontinued. I cast on with large needles thinking this would help and I would get a nice scarf out of the one ball but no such look. I have tried a straight knit stitch casting on twelve and then tried again with six, then tried a cast on of 20 for a Bias Scarf. So far nothing seems to be working. I looked on ebay and Amazon could not find the color I need. I have the Spring Blush. I did see some pooch on ebay but not the Spring Blush! I think I will try the Bias Scarf again maybe it will work with just the one ball. What can you do with one ball on Patons pooch? It's just 36 yds of yarn. I really hate it when a yarn gets discontinued. I am ready to watch a few Christmas themed movies.

The Dishlcoth War Continue's

The battle to get dishcloths knit for my Mother and Sister continues. As of today I have cast off the fourth dishcloth for my Mother. I know that is not a lot. The battle would be won if I did not need to sleep and work. Saturday will be a big day for working on dishcloths. So as a change of pace I plan to cast a Feather and Fan Dishcloth maybe tonight. It is Friday Eve and I am ready for the weekend. Today I took off work after a half a day so that I could take my Mother to apply for another id. It was so nice to get off work and have a few relaxing hours. I spent the time knitting a dishcloth, watching tv and on the Internet. I love my laptop.

Thrity one days left in the year

Another year almost over and what has changed in my life? What have I accomplished for the year? I need to think about this and see if I can come up with anything. I cast off a red Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth today an cast on another. I called Hobby Lobby, and A C Moore in Greensboro no one has cone's of Mistletoe yarn. It is to late to order the yarn and get it back in time for this year's Christmas Knits. I did not let my 40% off coupon go to waste at Hobby Lobby I picked up Interweave Knits Holiday Gifts Magazine. I Love This Cotton has a holiday yarn I did not buy a skein today maybe I will next pay day. I sent they winner of the next ironchef pool on Ravelry a gift certificate yesterday. I hope she received her email and enjoys shopping for new yarn. I know I did when I won the Poole for the next foodnetwork star. Red Heart has a great pattern book for sock yarn picked that up today it is More than Socks! it has a great pattern for a hat and scarf. After the first of the year I plan to give the scarf a try.

The last few hours of November

I love having my new laptop. I am sitting at the dining room table with a dishcloth on my needles watching tv. I love TLC watching The Little Couple. I am half way through a Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth, I am ready to start my decreasing for the second half of the cloth. Wow can't get over the fact that November is over and the last month in the year is about to begin. So far I have been able to use scrap yarn for the dishcloth's. My local Hobby Lobby does not carry the big cones of Mistletoe I called to ask. If they had the cone's my plan was to use the 40% off coupon from Sunday's paper to buy a cone. I think I will call A C Moore tomorrow to see if they carry the cone's they have a 40% coupon too! So just maybe they have the cone's.

Dishcloths

The dishcloth war is on! Finally got started with the dishcloths my Mother and Sister want for their friends. Because my Sister said she did not care what color the dishcloths are for her friend's I have 4 dishcloth's already knit just need the end's weaved. I cast on and knit one dishcloth in Mistletoe yesterday and cast on another today. I have knit both from scrap yarn so I hope I have enough scrap to finish the second dishcloth. Tomorrow is pay day and I plan to get a balls of Mistletoe to finish the dishcloth's for my Mother. My Mother wants several cloth's per friend and in certain colors. Mother's never make thing's easy even when you are old and grown. I have a new book to read it is the first in a series by Linda Byler Running Around (and Such) Lizzie Searches for Love Book 1. So I am off to bed to read for a little while and then get ready for Tuesday. My daughter has my camera so no picture's for my blog.

As Time Goes By

How did this happen again another long weekend is almost over. The weekend was not that bad no money to do anything but it's all good. I feel a little lost without a book to read. I finished You Better Knot Die, by Betty Hechtman. I will not give away the end in case someone might want to read the book. I have to say I was very surprised with the killer and the author of the crocheting vampire series. It was a great book and the end leaves me wondering what will happen next. Wishing my life away but I am hoping the next book in the series will be out soon. I love the whole bookstore, cafe, and yarn shop theme. If I won the lottery I would like to have a store like Shedd & Royal Books and More! I want to try the Vampire Scarf, I will have to visit you tube because I have very continued my yarn up my work when I am changing colors. I did bind off two scarves and how all I need to do is weave the end. I need to start those dishcloth's I keep getting side tracked. I love the new laptop. Still learning how to move around without a mouse.

Black Friday

The only day of the year when black is a good thing. So today is Black Friday, the day when most businesses say if they have a good day they won't be in the red which is bad for the year. So to prepare for the today I went to bed at 7:15 pm set my clock for 12:00 am and tried to get in a nap. Well my friend Margaret called me to see how my Thanksgiving had gone and my daughter called too! Well I think I might have gotten two hours of sleep and just could not stay asleep. So I got up an 11:30 got dressed and made my way to Walmart. Walmart did not close for Thanksgiving this year. So a lot of the Black Friday sales started
at midnight when I walked in the store a few minutes after midnight I heard yelling and screaming two women got into a fight. I am not sure which item they fought over but it cant be that serious nothing on sale at Walmart can be worth a fight. I made my way to where the item I wanted was to be placed on sale at 5:00am. We stood in the line for alittle over an hour and they they made us move. some people from the back of the line ran and got in front of us but the workers in the store did not do anything about it no fight broke which is a good thing. Then after stand for a pretty good while some fresh teenager tried to break in the line and another lady in line told her where the line started and that she could not cut in line. Well a few minutes later these 3 women rolled up on this women, proceeded to start yelling at her about not saying anything to a 16 year old and cursing at the sixteen year old. Well this woman told her I did not curse and all I said is you can't cut in line. Store employee's had to come over to keep these women from continuing to argue with this lady. I think they had to leave the store and the poor women started crying. At 4:30 we got tickets for our computer's Then had to stand in another line to check out. I did not leave the store until around 6:15am. I did leave the store with the $198.00 plus tax laptop. It is working well. Came home took a nap and I don't think I will be able to go to Walmart for at least a week or two. No knitting or crochet so far today.

Pomp -a-Doodle

Well I had a great day today. Got up today and got ready to meet my daughter in Greensboro so that we could go to the movies. We went to the 1:05 showing of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows part 1. It was great and a lot darker than the rest. I think it followed the book in some places. You get a lot of information. Sometimes not the way you think you should and a few character's have been left out. The movie stopped at a very good spot. So sometime next summer part 2 and the end of Harry Potter will come. Paid a visit to Costco to pay the membership and could not leave without buying something. So I brought the Kirkland brand chicken stock. I wanted to try it since I read about it in the monthly magazine I receive. My daughter brought Frosted Mini Wheat's and bottled water and Honey Nut Cheerios. Only one same to try Lobster Spread we got there after 3:00. Then on to A C Moore I brought a skein of Red Heart Pomp-a-Doodle in Plush Plum. I want to knit the scarf. It is so cute it looks like tiny pom poms, when you knit the scarf. The only problem is I have tried to cast on and just can't get it right. I am not sure what I should do. Maybe go to YouTube and see if anyone has a helpful video. The scarf looks so cute. The on to Apple bees to eat. They have a great 2 for $20.00 deal and you get an appetizer and 2 entrees for $20.00. I really enjoyed the time I spent with my daughter. Even though she is only one hour away we don't get to spend that much time together. We both have full time jobs and she has friend's and a boyfriend. She has a great and busy life. I am so happy for her and very proud she works very hard. I did not cast on a dishcloth tonight but I did cast on a scarf. I will work a dishcloth tomorrow. I found both pattern's I plan to use tonight. The patterns are Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth and Feather and Fan Dishcloth. Very easy and quick patterns to knit. Happy crafting.

Quick Post from the bad blogger!

Okay this is the first time I have posted a blog this month and it is almost over. I have finished reading both books More Church Folks and needles and pearls great books. I have started reading You Better Knot Die by, Betty Hechtman this is the fifth book in the series and the first in hardback. I love all the books and the titles and covers are always great. The cover for the latest book has a dog on it and it reminds me of ce ce my daughter's chihuahua. This weekend I plan to get started knitting dishcloths for my sister and my mother to give to their friends. Harry Potter Movie weekend. The stress level is up and not much on the crochet or knitting front.

Finally finished this afghan!

This month I finally finished an afghan I started in 2006 , I know it has been a long time coming. Well at least I made it! The pictures I plan to post are not very good. I don't know it is something about red and my camera that just does not mix. You really can't see the details of the afghan that well. I am reading two different books the first More Church Folks, by Michele Andrea Bowen and the second needles and pearls, by Gil Mcneil. Both are sequels to previous books. I have not spent anytime knitting lately. I need to pick the needles back up and soon. My Mother wants me to knit some dishcloths for her friends. I need to pick a quick easy pattern. I think maybe the feather and fan or grandmother favorite. It depends on the colors she wants to use. My daughter needs several afghans made for friends at work and her line sisters. I can't make up my mind which pattern to use. I have ripped out an afghan twice because I can't get the ripples to line up. According to the stitch diagram the double crochet 3 stitches in the same stitch and the double crochet 3 together need to line up and mine just wont line up. The pattern is from the special issue crochet today! that came out earlier this year. Another work week is about to start and the 11th month of the year. Wow time passes so fast I can't believe another year is almost over. I am behind on my blogging this year I wanted to have more post this year than I did last year. So I need to post more in November and December if I want to reach my goal.

My Fur Grandchild went home today

My fur grandchild went home today. I really enjoyed the week with Cece but it was a lot of work. Having a puppy around is a lot like having a toddler. You have to make sure you have everything they might eat off the floor! Get up early to take the puppy out to potty. So not much in the crochet or knitting world going on for me this week. I did make it to the gym one time this week. I spent 50 minutes on the treadmill. I will get better next week. I am paying $26.00 per month and I need to quit giving them free money if I don't go exercise. I will post a picture of Cece. Almost finished reading Getting To Happy, The Sequel to Waiting To Exhale, by Terry McMillan. I joined the November dishcloth swap on Ravelry and the battle of the next iron chef contest. Anyone out there watching Sister Wives? I love the show. It is very interesting.

Pet a Llama it will make you happy!

So nothing much going on it is Monday night. I am watching House and hoping to make it through the long work week. So far no knitting, crochet or reading. I really need to get back to my exercise routine but it is very hard to do after you get out of the habit. I am really out of the habit. Most of the time knitting, crochet, and reading are my stress relievers lately that is not true. It is very hard to make myself do anything but sit and feel tired and sad. Today my Mother and I discussed the household finances and we both feel we should do everything we can to get out of as much debt as we possibly can. This does not mean the mortgage. It does mean getting it together so it is not paid late. The savings on late fees only might be enough to buy a chicken or two! Finally after all of last weeks rain most greens we planted are coming up. The mixed greens, mustard spinach, and maybe the kale. We planted another pack of spinach yesterday. We are hoping the warm weather holds out and we get enough to cook one or two times and maybe a bag to freeze. The Bok Choy we brought and planted looks good and hopefully will do well. This has been a gardening update. Happy knitting, crocheting, and gardening. Picture of a Llama and me.

BRIGHT AND SUNNY SUNDAY!!!

Today was a great day! The weather was wonderful no rain, it was not to hot or to cold. We had a great breeze. It was the perfect day for The Eight Annual Farm Fest at Rising Meadow Farm and Fall Open Farm Day at Goat Lady Dairy. If I did not have such a hard time with direction I would have made it to Rising Meadows before noon. This was not the fault to the Farm, I have a hard time with directions. How I realize all I need to do is go down North Fayetteville onto Old Liberty Rd and keep straight. The direction on mapquest did not help me at all. Rising Meadow was great this was my third trip and before you think it I know by now I should know the way but 3 times and 3 different ways I made it to the farm. Farm Fest was great music, food, and vendor. A lot of the vendors are from the North Carolina area and they yarn for sale wonderful yarn in great colors and it was great. I watched a lady spinning. It looked relaxing and hard at the same time. I got the change to pet a Llama, Angora Rabbit, and an alpaca. This time I did not pet it on the head and it was cool. Website: www.risingmeadow.com . After looking at all the vendor booths we went to Goat Lady Dairy, it is very pretty and this was my first visit. You should have seen the garden! Greens, Lettuce , Swiss Chard, Bok Choy, Collard, Turnips and Turnip greens. Chickens and last but not least Goats! Well along with goats they had goat cheese you could buy. I sampled the spreadable cheese. Basil and Garlic,Dill and Chives, Jalapeno, Triple Heat, Roasted Red Pepper, and Plain. All of it was great. I did not buy any today because funds are low in my house and did not have enough to get a container. However I plan to go to the farmer market next payday and get a container of the Jalapeno goat cheese. I was so proud of my niece because she tried the Jalapeno cheese. We did buy a pound of hot sausage from Brads Farm. It is located at 5231 Liberty Grove Rd Liberty NC 27298, contact information 336-622-5618 . The sausage was great! we tried a sample. Brad stated that he grows his own grain to feed his animals. They sale Pork, Chicken, and Beef. Until recently I did not realize how many local people sold vegetables and meat. I plan to start buying as much locally produce food as I can. I think it is better for you and it helps small farms and the local community. Also learned today that Goat Lady has started Goat Lady CSA( Community Supported Agriculture). If you live in the area you can find out more about this I am sure by visiting the website: www.goatladydairy.com and their is a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 16, 7 to 8:30 pm Starmount Presbyterian Church 3501 West Market St. Greensboro, NC. It sounds like a great program. I am thinking of going to the meeting. The price really is not that bad, for the food that you will receive. However my fiances are not the best at this time maybe I can got to the meeting an learn more about the program and be prepared to join next year. It is great to have fun for free. Posting a picture of the Llmana, Alpaca, Angora Rabbit, and Goats. No Knitting this weekend, I did read and add a few rows to my Lace Crochet Afghan.

National Alpaca Farm Day

ALPACA
Today is National Alpaca Farm Day! so we went to High Meadow Alpaca Farm at 2102 Spero Road Asheboro, NC 27203. Website www.ncalpacafarmofhighmeadow.com . I got the chance to get up close to an alpaca. They are very sweet and gentle animals . I did not get the chance to take a picture of myself with an alpaca because before the woman that owns the farm had the chance to tell me not to I patted the alpaca on the head and they do not like being patted on the head. It was so soft. The dog that protect them are massive and very sweet as long as you are with someone they know. I really wanted to buy some yarn but this is my off pay week and did not have the money for yarn. I think the yarn I looked at was from Raynay Alpaca Farm 1897 Ashland Road Ruffin, NC 27326 , www.raynayalpacas.com . She was very nice and friendly. She had a display of Hats and Scarfs for sell they were beautiful. The natural color of the yarn was beautiful too. I think they will be open again tomorrow but I am not totally sure. After leaving the farm I was not ready to go home. So we headed for the Farmer Market in Greensboro. It has been a few years since my last visit. It was fun and the market has great variety. I tried two sample of goat cheese spread. One from Kilby Family Farm , they can be reached @ kilbyfamilyfarms@yahoo.com facebook keyword Kilby Family Farms . Farm number 336-381-3669 and cell 336-301-1661 I tried the goat cheese spread with dill it was very good. Then I sampled a goat cheese spread from Goat Lady Dairy with fig and honey it was great also. Goat Lady Dairy has a Fall Open Farm Day Sunday , October 3, 2010 from 1-5 pm . website www.goatladydairy.com . Also on October 3, 2010 there is a Farm Fest at Rising Meadow Farm 11am - 4 pm. Both places will have items for sale. Bring a cooler if you want to buy meat. No Pets! . My niece brought a chocolate cookie from RVAEUS they specialize in Red Velvet Cakes & Different Cupcakes website coming soon. RVAEUS in on Facebook email Rvaeus@hotmail.com . My niece really liked the cookie and thought it was very good. We brought zucchini, squash, mushrooms, baby bok choy, and eggplant. It turned out to be a great Saturday outing. Came home to do a stir fry for dinner. We added mushrooms, squash, zucchini, red bell pepper, garlic, onion, shallot, shrimp, baby bok choy , also vermicelli (beans thread). Posting pictures of the alpaca, dog & stir fry.

The First Full Day Of Autumn

The bad blogger returns on the first full day of Autumn. It has been a long time since my last post and I am not doing to well this year keeping my blog updated. If thing do not improve I will end the year with fewer post than I did last year. It is the first full day of Autumn and I am glad I am ready for cooler weather. The past few weeks have been hot and dry. We planted greens and spinach Labor day weekend and so far the ground looks the same as the day we planted the seed. Still have not finished the scarf I started on International Crochet Day I try to add a row or two every other day. This week I added a few rows to the Crochet lace Shells Afghan that I started in October or September 2006. It is red and for some reason I am not sure if it is the colors of the house or the camera but anything red I take picture of does not come out looking good. So the picture you will see is not the best in the world. Still reading Getting To Happy, by Terry McMillan half way through the book and I am glad tomorrow is Friday so I can finish up this weekend. This is a great season premiere week. Grey's tonight.

IT'S INTERNATIONAL CROCHET DAY

In honor of International Crochet Day, I decided to spend something crocheting today. So I started a scarf. I used a pattern from crochet today! the oct/nov 2006 issue. The patten is on page 26. Most of my day has been dedicated to watching cooking shows on tv and how to cooks on youtube. Tonight is the True Blood season finally. The weekend is almost over and a new work week will begin. I need to make myself workout this week. I did not workout at all last week. i want to get healthy but I am losing my drive to exercise. I need to get back in the exercise groove.

Yarn Heaven

Yesterday day after a very long day at work I came home to Yarn Heaven! I pulled into my driveway and a package from Knit Picks was sitting on my doorstep. I could not wait to open the box. I told you in previous post that on Ravelry I particiapated in a contest to see who would be the next Foodnetwork Star. The contestant that was assigned to me won and out of my group I received the prizes. Yarncandie and Straightneedles gave my giftcard's to KnitPicks so I was able to order yarn from KnitPicks. It was my first time ordering and of course I ordered more that the gift card amounts. It was all good because I used the gift card and then paid for the other half of the order. I am posting a picture of the yarn. I am not sure what projects I will use the yarn on at this time. I am happy to have great yarn to add to my stash. I finished reading God Ain't Through Yet, by Mary Monroe and picked up Getting To Happy, by Terry Mcmillan at my local Library. I enjoyed God Ain't Through Yet it is laugh out loud funny. Getting To Happy is the long awaited sequel to Waiting To Exhale. So far so good and I am sure I will enjoy the book. Terry McMillan is one of my favorite Author's. I hope she will continue to produce great novels. It is the weekend and I plan to read and try to finish a few knitting projects.

My Last Day Off!

Well today mark's my last day off and it is back to work tomorrow. If this had been a work day it would still be 10:00 am and my phone would be ringing off the hook! I love and need my job so don't get me wrong, and am thankful that I have a job to get up and go to tomorrow. It is just I like doing nothing better than I do working. I spent the day watching tv and reading. I finished reading God Ain't Through Yet, by Mary Monroe it was a great read and I enjoyed the book. It was laugh out loud funny in several places through out the book. I hope this is not the last in the series! I paid a visit to the Library to find a new book to read. Both of the books I really wanted to read I had to place on hold. One by Michelle Bowen and the second by Terry McMillan. I hope the wait is not to long. They are not knitting or crochet related! I checked out The first book in the Abram's Daughter's Series, by Beverly Lewis, The Covenant and 2 by Lawana Blackwell the Tales of London Series . I am trying to decide which to read first. I knit a few rows on a scarf I've been working on for a longtime now. I am ready for the weekend. I need to get started on a new crochet or knit project. Posting a random picture tonight. Yesterday my daughter and I watched the movie The Time Traveler's Wife, I am not sure I liked the movie, maybe I should read the book so I can understand it more. It was a little to weird for me. I know that a movie can't give all the details that the book will give. I will have to think about this and maybe give the book a try.

My Long Weekend!

Well on Thursday night my long weekend started. On Friday I got up lazed around and made my way to the Library. Went to the library to get direction to Evelen Arces Flea Market it is located at 825 Julian Ave, Thomasville NC 336-472-0244. Paid a visit to Walgreens and I hate going to Walgreens, to pick up a prescription for my Mother. I arrived at Walgreens around 10:06 I pulled up to the drive through and I waited and I waited for some one to come to the window to see me. I watched a worker count money right in front of the drive through window help a few customers in the store but she did not acknowledge me, a worker walked past the window at least two times and did not turn my way. I know someone in side the pharmacy knew I was waiting . I have been inside Walgreens and visited the Pharmacy and I know you can see car's that pull up from inside the pharmacy. As I was stating I pulled in at 10:06 and after I rang a service bell it was almost 10:15 before anyone came to the window and asked me if I was picking up or dropping off a prescription. To top it off after this and the fact that the prescription was ready they could not find my mother prescription. So to make a long story shot it took over 30 minutes to get a prescription that was suppose to be ready for pick up. I was more upset about the fact that I had to wait nearly 15 minutes before anyone approached the window than I was about not being able to find the window. My daughter and my fur grand baby arrived Friday evening and on Saturday we got up and traveled to Thomasville for the flea market. It was great if I wanted to I could have brought a pig, turkey, duck, or chicken. They had lots of vegetables and we brought greens, corn, eggplant, fresh fish. If I knew how to cook blue crab I would have brought some. I am fur baby sitting this weekend. I finished reading Knit in Comfort, by Isabel Sharpe, it was a great easy read and I enjoyed the read. On Friday during my trip to the library I checked out God Ain't through Yet, by Mary Monroe. It is a great read and it is not Crochet or Knit related! Worked a few row of the lasted magic scarf by crazy aunt purl. The best thing about my long weekend is returning to work on Wednesday!!! Posting a picture of Cece she has grow a lot.

KISS SWAP

I am participating in a swap over on Crochetville it is the KISS(keep it simple swap). It is the first swap I have participated in on Crochetville for some time. I am a very sorry and lazy person and could not work up the energy for a swap. The KISS swap is a dishcloth swap and the keep it simple part meant you send only one dishcloth and on extras. Well I came home today to a nice surprise. I received my dishcloth from my swap partner. Legalwoman17(her Crochetville name. I want to thank her again on this blog for a very pretty star shaped dishcloth in a nice bright color. Once again I have to say it was great to get something in the mail other than a bill. I have a nice long weekend coming and I am glad. I took Friday off our office is closed on Monday and I took off on Tuesday. Just because I be damned if I feel like going to work. I am thankful for my job but I need a break. The picture is of the dishcloth I received from my swap partner.

Next Foodnetwork Star

This year I participated in a contest on Ravelry. The Next Foodnetwork Star! The moderator gave you two contestants names divided everyone who signed up for the contest in groups and if at the end of the show your contestant was the winner and became the The Next Foodnetwork Star you received a gift from the other 5 contestants in your group. Well I won! I never win anything. I am thrilled. When I got home today I received a package of some very pretty cotton yarn and a small pack of candy and a bag of tea. I can't wait to try the tea. I love tea. I also received a knit picks gift card from Yarncandie and Straightneedles, now all I have to do is pick the yarn I want. I think it is going to be hard they have great yarn and accessories. I am posting a picture of the yarn I received from Allisonlovesyarn. I did not spend anytime knitting or crocheting this weekend and I had a long day at work. All is well though and I am ready for the weekend.
