Almost a Sock!

Well my first sock is almost a sock. I added a few rows tonight and by my measurements it is almost 8 inches and according to the direction I need to stop 2 inches before the end. So hopefully by the end of the week I will get the toe shaped and bind off by the weekend. I plan to start the second sock immediately after I finish the first. After last night and finishing up the baby afghans. I really want to do a little crochet. I have a red afghan that I started I think in 2006 maybe 2007 I really need to check past post's to see if they will give me a clue. While I was looking around Lion Brand Yarn's I noticed a wonderful and what looks like a very easy baby blanket. It is the Diagonal Comfort blanket in the pattern they use Cotton-Ease. I think I want to use one of the many baby blanket yarns I have in my stash. I have had this yarn for a long time. I have TLC Baby and Lion Brand Yarn Pound of Love. I think I will try my very best to at least finish the first sock and start the second before I start the baby afghan.

A Return to Crochet

Well I paid a visit to YouTube to brush up on my triple and double crochet. I found to great video's to help one to help me with an unfinished baby afghan in crochet lace shells and one in crazy or brick stitch. My daughter needs a gift for a friend's baby shower. So I found two UFOs and finished them today. The baby afghan's only needed a few stitches and a little end weaving. So she choose between the two afghan's and now I have one ready if she needs one for another friend. It seems so strange that her friend's are moving into the marrying and family starting stage of their lives. Still reading Death by Cashmere. No work on the sock today. Tomorrow I promise. I will spend a few minutes before I go to bed reading.

Well it's Friday night and I am at home sitting in front of the t.v. watching 20/20, and surfing the net. I have not worked on my sock today. I will read later tonight. Spent some time sitting out on the deck very nice and relaxing. I am fighting the urge to start any new projects before I finish my socks. I want to start a scarf . I am really trying to be strong. A display at Bella Filati. I love chickens.

Friday Eve!

It's Thursday night and I can't believe I still have on more day before the weekend. I came home today and relaxed for a few minutes and then ate dinner, then spent time working on my long suffering sock project. I plan to read a few minutes before I go to sleep. So I think I will give myself at least a B for working on my sock almost everyday this week. Happy crafting!

Keeping a promise

I made a promise to myself that I would spend sometime every night knitting a few row's on my sock. So far I so good spent some time this evening after work knitting a few rows on the sock. I have been reading and visiting Ravelry and crochetville tonight. I don't think I will knit anymore tonight getting ready to get in bed and relax do some reading. I need to get Death by Cashmere read by the 26th. I should go to the bookstore and by the book so I can have the pattern at the end of the book. In a previous post I talked about my visit to Bella Filati in Southern Pines in a previous post. The picture is of the window at Bella Filati. www.bellafilati.com

Time

I feel that there is not enough time in a day to do the things that I want to do. First out of necessity I have to spend 8 hours per day working. Gotta pay the mortgage, car payment, and keep up the utilities. Then by the time you come home unwind for an hour or two it does not leave you with much time for reading, knitting, and blogging. So little time so much to accomplish. I made myself spent time knitting a few rows on my sock while I listened to this week's lionbrand podcast. I am determined to get both socks done before the end of the summer and start a new pair. Went by the library on Monday and picked up my interlibrary loan, Death by Cashmere, by Sally Goldenbaum it is A Seaside Knitters Mystery. I did not realize so many author's wrote knitting mysteries. I love the books because they don't go all CSI and at the end of the book some add either a recipe and pattern or just a pattern. I started the book last night and I think it will make another great summer read. It is better if you can buy the books that way later on you can try the pattern checking the book out of the library does not give you enough time. The flower is Spider Flower, Cleome Sparkler Hybrid (hassleriana) a very nice woman that I work with gave me a few plants. It is a very pretty flower. I received a catalog in the mail last week from Park Seed Co. In the catalog they have the plant listed as an annual but the plant that my friend gave me reseed's it self I think this one is the Blush it comes in 4 colors.

It was very simple just baked chicken, fried okra, and box macaroni and cheese. Tried to knit a dishcloth had to rip it out again and made a trip to Walmart. My black eyed susan's are starting to bloom. Tomorrow's Monday and I am ready for the weekend.

World Wide Knit In Public Day!

Well I went to Southern Pines, NC to participate in WWKIPD. I had a great time meet some very nice ladies and a very nice young lady all of them great knitter's. We sat under a very big Magnolia tree and a few other's right by the downtown farmers market. I think the music went along with the farmers market. The WWKIPD was sponsored by Bella Filati the local yarn shop in Southern Pines. If you live in NC and you want to do a nice weekend road trip you need to make your way to downtown Southern Pines and Bella Filati! Everyone at the WWKIPD and Bella Filati very friendly. The shop has a lot of great yarn they had my favorite Noro love the stuff. To visit the website www.bellafilati.com Sign up for the newsletter and check out all the great yarn and classes. I have wanted to visit the shop for such a long time since right after I learned how to knit. Then we went to visit my cousin Rose and we went to Ruby Tuesday and had a great salad. After that off to my Aunt's house after a couple of hours went had dinner with them and paid a visit to the nursing home to see my Grandmother. Pretty good day today. I worked on my sock while knitting in public. That's me in the peach shirt.

Middle of the week

Well another long day at work. Then I went to my nieces graduation she graduated from High School today. She was accepted at Fayetteville State University and in late August she will be on her way to school. I did not get a chance to get a picture of her in her cap and gown. At the last minute the school decided to hold the graduation in the gym and I had to sit in the over flow section and did not make it in the gym. I had to watch on screen in the auditorium. At least they had air conditioning. So not to much on the knitting front. I Will spend a little time knitting. I need to do a little reading tonight. Picture of fish my daughter took during the cruise.

I vote that we stop Monday's!

Well it's Monday night and I am watching Big Bang, blogging and worked a few rows on my dishcloth. Long day at work, very busy. Went out and looked at the garden after work an things are looking good. I will watch the news tonight and if there is no rain in the forecast for tomorrow I will need to water when I get home from work. I noticed that the plants grow quickly once you have them in the ground. I really don't think it would be to late for me to plant more tomato's or squash. I read a blog yesterday and the guy on the blog put out a few roma's and zucchini just last week. I paid a visit to Ravelry and Gate City Yarns has invited people to come to downtown Greensboro for World Wide Knit in Public Day. I think I will try and go for a few hours maybe bring my unfinished sock and to work and then maybe I can finish the first sock and start the second. Still reading By Hook or By Crook, by Betty Hechtman. On payday I will get Maggie Sefton's lasted in the knitting series Dropped Dead Stitches at least I think that's the name. This is a picture of the Pingtung Long Eggplant I planted in the garden.

Busy weekend.

Spent most of the day on Saturday trying to clean out my garage. It has Lot's of stuff in it mostly stuff on one uses anymore. A lot of the stuff is my Mother's when she moved in with me in 2006 she had stuff from her house. She moved out of her house because she had to put her Mother my Grandmother in a nursing home. I get along well with my Mother so it is not to much of a problem that we live together now. I was hoping however that I would get a year or tow of living by my self before she moved in the house. I did not only a few months. I am getting off track a cousin of ours needed a place to live so she let her move into her house since she had moved in with me so last year she had to clean out the house in order for the cousin to move in and although she Say's she gave and threw a lot of stuff away a lot of in landed in my garage. 2 sets of what I call Blue Willow dishes one set is for me and the other my daughter's not complete sets but lots of place setting. If I can one day I plan to try and complete set. I live not to far away from Replacements, LTD I think you can find just about any item you want or need to replace from thousands of china patterns. www.replacements.com Then we went to Lowe's Hardware and picked up 2 eggplants one Black Beauty and one Green never heard of a Green eggplant until this week. I already have a Pingtung Long eggplant in the ground last year this eggplant was a good producer. We cooked out and I spent time reading By Hook or By Crook, by Betty Hechtman. It is a good read, I am on page 104 and really enjoying the book. I knit a few rows on my dishcloth and my daughter told me today that she wants some knit dishcloths for her new apartment. She said She needed to look through my yarn to see what colors she wanted me to use for the dishcloths. So that's about it for me.

Udates!

Well not to much on the knitting front to busy getting the garden together and I have thrown a few pity parties. I finished reading Debbie Macomber's Summer on Blossom Street. A good read. I picked up By Hook or By Crook by Betty Hechtman. I am on chapter 2, page 16. I love this series. Great summer of reading ahead. I worked a row or to of a dishcloth. Still no work on the sock I am so ashamed of my self. I don't know what I am waiting on the finish the first sock and start the second. I really like sock knitting! I have been a little down and can't seem to knit my way out of this funk. Posting a picture of the lily that bloomed in my yard around my deck.

Thursday planting

Well finally today I made it out to the garden today because it was over cast and not to hot. I cut the holes in the plastic and had help from my nieces and nephew to get all most of the tomato's and all the squash and zucchini planted today. I found out I only brought 3 zucchini plants and I need more, I love zucchini and love to put them on the grill so the more I have the better. I need more plastic and 3 or 4 zucchini plants. I have to plant the okra, jalapenos and tomatillo's. I need a Cheyenne pepper too. The little tag on the tomatillo states reseeds so does this mean I should plant some where I would not till next year and it will come back? Will one plant do well in a large pot? I will take a picture of the garden and post this weekend. I am reading Summer on Blossom Street, by Debbie Macomber. So far so good picked it up at my local library yesterday. It took a few weeks. I was on hold for the book. A new crochet mystery comes out on next week by Betty Hechtman. I think on Tuesday! I plan to go by my local Books-A-Million right after work. I think this summer promises some great new in the series reading. I have started a new dish cloth and knit a few rows on Tuesday. I read last night and no knitting. I have not worked on my sock in over a week. I am so ashamed of myself. I keep taking it out of the project bag and looking at it almost everyday. I will work on it this weekend if it is the last thing I do! I have to finish this project. I love sock yarn and I want more sock yarn. I have to use it if I buy more yarn. Happy crafting and gardening.

Garden

Well I have had a not so bad weekend, Friday started pretty rocky but by Saturday things has turned around. Spent time with my daughter looking at apartments and furniture. The apartment we looked at with my daughter looked great, fell in love with two of the apartments. One with a huge and I mean huge master bathroom, and one with a very pretty little deck on the third floor. The Second and third floor had small decks and the first I guess it would have been considered a patio. The rent was a little out of my daughter's price range without a room mate. I could see a planter or two on the deck with a tomato and flower's. Then on Sunday just did nothing at all but talk to my daughter and watch TV. Today I got up around 10:00 or a little after got dressed an spent a few hours in the garden. We have a problem with getting the garden started on time. My brother in law tilled the garden last Thursday. So my Mother and I put most of the plastic down today. We ran out of plastic so I have to get another roll on Friday. I think tomorrow after work we will cut the holes in the plastic to plant the squash and zucchini. I have to wait until this Friday to buy another roll of plastic for the rest of the garden. I did get all of my cherry and grape tomato's planted in hanging baskets. I have 2 planter's that I plan to get 2 patio tomato's on Friday and plant. I know my garden will get started a little late but I think it will still turn out okay. We planted 3 pots of Petunia's and one pot with a petunia, geranium, and begonia. We had 3 grape tomato's to come back in a hanging basket we did last summer put that in a pot because I thought it would do better in a big pot. I was afraid of trying to separate the plants.

Apartment hunting

Spent some of today looking at apartments with my daughter. She looked at several. Some of the the kitchen was so small I don't think two people could be in there at the same time. She did a lot of searching before today. She found one that she likes today and I think on Friday she will put money down to hold the apartment until August. I spent some time on Thursday working on my sock. Maybe tomorrow I will work a few more rows. I am glad I don't have a family that's waiting in me to supply them with warm socks for the winter. Watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The picture is from Kendra's trip to the Bahama's.

Tuesday Post

On Saturday I did a very quick post to mark a very important day. I did not have time to go into details because I had to go with my daughter back to Winston Salem and leave her there to catch a bus to Florida so that she could go on a cruise. Her boyfriend an a lot of her friend in her senior class went on this trip. It is her first cruise. I hope she has not been seasick. I hope she and her boyfriend can get along without arguing. I don't think they argue a lot but you know how it is if every now and then if you spend to much time together. Kendra can be a bit bossy and high strung at times. Maybe it is an only child thing! Well the graduation was wonderful Hill Harper the man is just beautiful and very smart and talented. He plays Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on CSI: NY, he has written books and is a lecturer, and activist. Hill Harper gave a wonderful address it was interesting and you did not get bored and wish he would stop talking. I am so proud of my daughter she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Fiance and a degree in Marketing. She has a job that she starts in June and that is a blessing these days. After the graduation we went to Mellow Mushroom, love the place even though it was only my second time eating at the restaurant. They have wonderful pizza, they how have a restaurant in Greensboro I plan to go as soon as possible. Best pizza around. I love downtown Winston-Salem. Now that my daughter will be working, an living in Winston Salem for awhile I will get to visit more often than I do at this time. I am ashamed to say no work all week long on my socks . I have spent some time reading and that about all I have done.

Gusset!

Well on Sunday I was sure I would be able to get my gusset done. Somewhere along the way something went wrong with the gusset it was all my fault and so dump. After picking up my stitches I needed to knit a round the shape my gusset well I started knitting in the wrong direction! When I looked at the sock I just could not figure out why my stockinette was on the inside of the sock. I knew it would need ripping back but I was not sure how far back. So I did not finish my homework and took my mess to class today and Carl helped my get back on the right track. First by ripping back and re picking up stitches. Carl is so patient and Angela the other woman in the class was so nice too. She had her homework done so she was able to finish the toe. I had to place different color stitch markers on the right side on all my needles and then write down which color was needle 1,2, and 3. Sad but true. This is a big help with row one because you have to do something different on all three needles during row one, row two straight knit. So I worked through rows one and two of the gusset now my stitches and on the right side. Happy, happy. Sometime tomorrow I need to measure my foot to see how far I need to knit before the toe.

Turning the heel

Great class on Saturday, I learned how to turn my heel and how to pick up stitches. I found turning the heel tricky but I am sure after turning a few it will get better. Picking up stitches is a little tedious too. Our homework is to pick up stitches and knitting down the sock I started out with rib stitches all the way down my sock. I was the only one to contiue with the rib stitches. I don't plan to finish in rib stitch. It is after all as Carl pointed out inside the shoe. Carl is a great teacher and I am enjoying the class. The time passes so fast. The last class is for the toe. We will see how the picking up stiches and the gusset goes.

Heel Flap

Well working in my heel flap. I started around 6:00 and that did not work out so I had to turn on my computer and go to youtube to see if I could find a video on heel flaps. I did and now I think I am on the road to a good heel flap. Second class tomorrow. I hope I have things right and I have started on the right side with my heel flap. I need 31 or 32 rows and I think I have lost count on my rows even though I am marking off my rows. I think I am on 7. I hope I won't screw up to bad. Well it's late and I need to get to work.

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Still working on my sock

Almost 7 inches on my sock. I think I will work about 30 minutes on the rest of my 7 inches tonight when I go to bed. Then while relaxing tomorrow night work the heel flap. I think I can work the heel flap while watching Wife Swap not that I think the heel flap will be easy, but you to switch from knit and purl to slip 1 knit 1. Tomorrow's Friday and I am glad. Long week. I will try and post a picture tomorrow. I went out tonight with a friend from work and her daughter. First we went to eat at a new steakhouse in Randleman great steak and strawberry cobbler! then to hear Lane Ragsdale and friends sing at the Library. I had a great time. Craft on!

Homework

Well for the first time in a very long time I have Homework. I have to have 6 or 7 inches and the heel flap knit on my sock by Saturday. Carl wanted us to try and knit from 1 to 1 1/2 inches per day and if I have measured correctly I have 3 inches. I think I see a mistake on a row but I counted all the stitches on each needle and still 16 stitches on each needle. I hope Jane has sock experience I think I will need help with the heel flap. Well tomorrow marks the start of a brand new week, I am not ready. Happy knitting and Crochet.

Saturday, April 18, 2009

Wow great day !!!

Well not a bad day. I had my first sock knitting lesson today. Carl at Gate City Yarn taught the class. I meet to very nice women Hedi, and angela. Carl taught the class. Carl is a great guy. So patient and very good at showing you how to knit. He brought in sock that he has knit to show us and they are great. I had to cast on twice before I got it right but I did manage to cast on and get started. I worked a row or two and then dropped a stitch. Carl found the dropped stitched stitch and then got me back on he right track. The time in the class went by very fast and I can't wait until next Saturday. I made it back to Asheboro and went by the Chili cook off but I think since I did not make it until around 5;00 I missed a lot. I did not get to taste but 1 one chili. I hope they have the event again next year and I can be there at the start. I could not hang with staying until 10:00 to see who won the raffle. I have a homework assignment to knit 6 or 7 inches on my sock and the heel flap. So I am working on my sock tonight and watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, and of course blogging. I am posting a picture of the first few stitches on my sock. I love the color. I am using Trekking hand art in Tong it is a wool blend. Needles Addi size 1 I think 2.50 mm. Have a great rest of the weekend and craft on!

What a day, what a day

I am so glad it is Friday and the weekend it has been a long week and I only worked 4 days. I am so ready for the weekend. I have a fun filled day ahead tomorrow. The sock class I signed up for starts tomorrow from 2 to 4 and then I plan to go check out the Asheboro's first Chili Cook off! It seems like it will be a big and fun event and I hope it is a success and continues every year. Since it runs from 1-10 pm I will have a lot of time to look around and enjoy the event. I hope you can buy a raffle ticket tomorrow I did not buy one ahead of the event. I hope they don't decide the winner before I get to the event. I need to get up one morning early enough to go by the bagel shop. I enjoy bagels and use to go buy the first bagel shop we had in Asheboro and was disappointed when the shop went out of business. I am working a new dishcloth from Leisure Arts Publication, Trendy Knit Dishcloths, by Evelyn A. Clark. I am working #2 Bubbles Border, in what I think is Rainbow Bright Lily Surgar ' n Cream. Craft on! I plan to take pictures of the knitting class and the Chili Cook off to post later this weekend. I am posting the first few rows of the Bubbles Border dishcloth.

Humday finish

Well its the middle of the week and I finished my Linked Hearts dishcloth. Lily Sugar 'n Cream cotton, color Grape, pattern leisure arts #3253 dishcloths from the heart. What to do what to do, this weekend I hope my sock knitting class will start and also here in Asheboro some of the the local business owner's bring the first ever Chili Cook-Off. I think it promises to a pretty big event. The article in the Courier-Tribune states more than 30 have entered locals and I hear as far away as Texas and New York. First Prize is $1500.00 , 2nd $1000.00, and 3rd $500.00(the registration fee is $50.00 or proceeds from the sale of 15 raffle tickets, plus the stubs) Today is the final day to register. Sunny day!

Well after I finally got out of bed. I got dressed and spent some time in the yard picking up sticks and branches. I raked some leaves. I must say having a yard is to much work. I plan to get up tomorrow and plant a few vegetable seeds to put in the garden. I hope my brother in law will be able to till my garden spot by the first weekend in May. I have a mystery plant growing in a container , my Mother thinks it is garlic, but I don't remember planting garlic in the container. It looks great and it does smell like garlic. We shall see what happens. I cleaned the weeds and leaves away from the deck and I my daisies, black eyed Susan, and lilies are coming back. I have a four day work week starting on Monday. Still working the Large Heart dishcloth, from Leisure Arts dishcloths from the heart #3253. So far so good with the dishcloth. The night is long and lonely. Craft on!

BETA GAMMA SIGMA

Friday night my Mother, Aunt, Uncle, Cousin, and I attend an Induction Ceremony and Banquet at Winston-Salem State University. It was for the School of Business & Economics. It is an honor society that service Business Programs accredited by AASB international. My daughter was inducted and received was the recipient of the Blue & Gold cord. Her friend Ginnerfra Daniels who served as the Vice President also was a recipient of the Blue & Gold cord. The dinner music and speaker was wonderful and we had a great time. I have a picture but it is not very good a little dark. Spent most of the day yesterday working on my bedroom it really needs a good cleaning. I discovered over the last 2 weekends that I have a lot of cotton yarn. Most of it scrap yarn from previous dishcloths. Some new skeins and some very large skeins from mill ends. Lot's of sugar 'n cream, Peaches & creme, Bernat and, a little I love this cotton. Some of the balls are to small for a dishcloth. So I am not sure what kind of project I can do with all these little balls. Maybe a grocery bag. If I can find an easy pattern. Well still no word on when the sock class will start. I hope soon. Sock knitting is one of my goals for the year, along with circular needles, and cables.

Sick

Well I spent the whole glorious weekend sick with a cold or allergies and may I just say i would still rather be at home on the weekend sick than working. I am thankful and happy that I still have employment and I hope it continues to remain that way unless I win the lottery. I live for the weekend. Since my last post on Tuesday I did not get in a lot of knitting or reading because Kendra was here until Thursday morning and my Sister and her family came over on Wednesday so to much going on to knit, or read. Well on Thursday night I started sneezing and feeling a little funny by Friday morning I felt very bad and left work at 12:00 came home spent most of the day in bed. Repeat on Saturday most of the day in bed and then in front of the TV, on the Internet, knitting, and reading. I love clean house marathon's. I will be glad when Neeice Nash returns. I really like her a lot. So I finished up another dishcloth today that I started earlier in the week. #6 Cascading Hearts, #3253 Leisure Arts dishcloths From The Heart, by Evelyn A. Clark. I used 191 Peppermint Peaches & Creme 100% cotton. I think it turned out pretty good.

St Patrick's Day

Well a pretty good day today it's St. Patrick's Day, and today was the Kiwanis Annual Pancake Day!!! My daughter and I have attended Pancake day since she was 2 or 3 years old. I remember after the first time we went she would ask me everyday if we could go eat pancakes. In honor of St. Patrick's Day I spent some of my weekend knitting a Shamrock dishcloth. Lily Sugar ' n Cream cotton yarn, color Emerald Green. Very easy pattern found at www.knittingknonsense.com/shamrockcloth/html . Three more days until the weekend. I recast last night the cascading hearts dishcloth and read a few pages of Fleece Navidad, by Maggie Sefton. Knit on!

Tangled web of cotton

It's Saturday and I spent a large part of the day trying to untangle my used cotton yarn. I have several balls of used cotton yarn in both Peaches & Creme and Sugar' n Cream I had this yarn in a plastic bin and it all got tangled together. Some of the balls I am sure I could manage another dishcloth and others only a few row on something. I hope to find a nice and easy grocery bag to knit with my scrap yarn. Cast on an Shamrock Cloth last night I plan to add a few rows tonight and get most of in done tomorrow I want to finish the dishcloth by Tuesday St Patrick's day. Radiating Hearts

I finished the Radiating Hearts dishcloth tonight. You can find this patten in Leisure Arts #3253 dishcloths From The Hearts, By Evelyn A. Clark. I used Lily The Original Sugar ' n Cream cotton yarn in Hot Orange. I love the color and feel the dishcloth turned out pretty good. So tomorrow is Friday and payday so after work I am off to Hobby Lobby for a skein of green cotton yarn I found a pattern on Ravelry for a shamrock dishcloth . St Patrick's day on the 17th and so I plan to cast on in so that the dishcloth will be finished by Tuesday in honor of St Pa tricks day. I still have enough time to crochet a scarf or granny square of national crochet month. Happy, happy tomorrow's Friday! Craft on ! Picture of my Radiating Hearts Dishcloth.

Recast

So last night I recast on the Radiating Hearts dishcloth that I cast on the first time on Saturday night. So far so good on the recast. I am on row 29 plan to knit a few more rows tonight. I knit a row or 2 during my morning break at work the first morning break I have taken in a long time I might add, then night a few rows during lunch. I can make out the the start of the first heart. This is a dishcloth you have to count your stitches. You have a lot of increasing, decreasing, and slip, slip, knit. If you want to get in good practice with most of your stitches a dishcloth can take you there you learn a lot. Three days until the weekend. Craft on! Posting a picture of the first 27 rows I think of the Radiating Hearts recast.

Sock yarn

Well just a quick damn it's Monday update. Last night I had to rip out all my hard work in the Radiating Hearts dishcloth apparently knitting and watching Big Love don't mix. It was a long hard day today and only 4 days until the weekend. So I have to start over on the dishcloth maybe tonight I am not sure. I might read for a few minutes tonight. I am posting a picture of the sock yarn I brought for my sock class. It is Trekking hand art made in Germany, it is hand painted very pretty and very bright color Tonga 510. I want to cast on the dishcloth not the socks, and I want to read. I can't do both. Oh well craft on!!

That horrible feeling it's Sunday night

Well the weekend is coming to a close. I got up late on Saturday and made my way to Gate City Yarns. I brought my supplies for my sock class. The dates for the class have been changed so I have to wait closer to the end of the month. Which is not that bad. I have the yarn, pattern and needles. I will post a picture of the yarn later this week. Cast on a dishcloth last night #4 Radiating Hearts from #3253 Leisure Arts dishcloths FROM THE HEART by Evelyn A. Clark. A heart is starting to form. This cloth starts off like the Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth, from Dishcloths Boutique. I made it to row 30 last night I think I will add a few rows tonight. I am using Lily The Original Sugar' n Cream in Hot Orange. Posting a picture later in the week as so as I finish the dishcloth. I read a page or 2 of Club Dead and I want to read a few pages of Fleece Navidad. So much you want to do and so little time. Posting picture's of the cats just because. Bond off beginner's basic II Ribbed-for-Her-Pleasure Scarf from Stitch ' N bitch The Knitter's Handbook, by Debbie Stoller.

The top picture is Hermes and the bottom picture is Goldie. I am not sure what she was looking at out the storm door. I could not see it my self I think it was the flowers blowing it was very windy today. Hermes laying in a great sun spot by the sliding door.

Hot Blue

Well after ripping this pattern out over and over again last year I have finally knit this dishcloth. I started it last year June 27, 2008 and to repeat myself I had to rip it out more than I want to remember. So tired of it and frustrated I put down the pattern and did not pick it back up until last weekend. I am not sure what it was about the pattern that kept me from completing this dish cloth. The dish cloth in question is 10. Shapely Diamond from #3824 Leisure Arts Kitchen Bright Dishcloths 10 Knit Designs, Hot Blue Lily The Original' n Cream cotton yarn. I am not sure which dish cloth to try next but with all the cotton yarn in the stash no need to buy any more cotton yarn for a long time. Craft on!

March snow day!

In like a lion. Well March arrived with a bang with rain, sleet, and snow. This time you could not see the grass by the time it was all said and done. I did not make it to work today until around 11:00 am. It was very pretty I love snow but since my office does not close for snow it makes things so complicated. So got up got dressed emailed and called into work. Then watched the Morning Show, did breakfast and cleaned off the car as much a possible. I hope I can make it to work tomorrow due to the wet roads and melting snow I might have to deal with black ice. This is North Carolina snow today and by the end of the week they say we will hit the 70's. Snow a rare thing and this time it covered up the grass. I am ready for spring. My rosemary bush is laying over on the ground full of snow I hope it will straighten up. One day down 4 to go until the weekend. Still going strong with the shapely diamond dishcloth. I will add a few rows tonight. Craft on!!

10. SHAPELY DIAMOND

Well so far so good on the dishcloth I started last night. I made it through row 21 without any trouble. Still have the right number of stitches and the diamond pattern seems to be taking shape. The blue is really nice and bright a happy color. It is cold and it is still raining earlier today we did have some ice on the trees but that has gone away. Still no snow. I am happy about this and I hope nothing happens later tonight or in the early morning. Weather I want to or not I need to be able to get to work. Made my way out in the cold and rain to go to Walmart and Books.A.Million the book I ordered came in on Wednesday, Fleece Navidad, by Maggie Sefton it is a knitting mystery. Well I think I will add a few rows to my dishcloth while listening to Harry Potter And The Prisoner of Azkaban performance by Jim Dale. Still need to buy the other cd's in the series. Oh well craft on!. Update It is snowing and it has been for a few hours now. I don't think I will make it to work by 8:00 AM , and now I am sure even if I make it tomorrow I will spend the day doing interviews and not process cases and that's what I need to do. Row 41 on the Shapely Diamond dishcloth. What a day what a day.

Cold wet Saturday night

Well I made another trip to Costco and Gate City Yarns today. In all the trips that I have made to Costco I have never ever seen so many people it was wild. I loved it great samples, grapefruit cups, frozen pizza, clam chowder, pink salmon, lobster spread. Tonight I plan to cast on shapely Diamond dish cloth from Leisure arts Kitchen Bright Dishcloths 10 knit designs. This dishcloth for some reason is the thorn in my side. I have cast on and ripped out this cloth so many times just can't seem to get it right. Well after many months of putting it off the time is now. Gate City Yarns I needed to trade the yarn I brought last Saturday. I could not get the color I wanted so I traded for a different color being slow on the up take I did not think to ask if I could trade it for the needles I need for my sock knitting class next month. Oh well I will go to the yarn shop again next Saturday to get the yarn and needles since I won't get paid again before the first class. what I would not give to have money. I love to spend it think of all the yarn I could buy and the trips to Costco. Once again here in this area of NC we have a chance for sleet, freezing, and snow tomorrow and early Monday morning. I hope we don't get any bad weather I need to make it to work Monday morning. Craft on!

Knitting , reading, and cooking

Well I cooked today, this is something I rarely do cooking. I am not the best cook and I have to follow a recipe. I made one of my favorites Catfish Chowder I have a previous post about the chowder. On an off today I have been knitting and reading, Club Dead, by Charlaine Harris. I need to spend the rest of the week reading so I can finish the book on time to return it to the library. I love the cranberry swirl yarn I am using for my daughters scarf. I have purchased pink and green yarn to start a scarf weeks ago. I want to use circular needles on the scarf so I have put off starting the scarf never used circulars. I wish someone would offer a class on how to use circular needles.

Great Saturday

Well had a great day today. Got up this morning and my Mother and I got dressed and went to Costco I love Costco and I wish I pay a monthly visit. I can't believe I did not try any sample's today. Big crowd today and The samples just did not appeal to me today. Left Costco and proceeded to Gate City Yarns brought the wrong yarn and signed up and paid for a sock knitting class. I did not discover I had the wrong yarn until I got home. I think I will take it back next weekend I did not notice that I picked up the worsted weight Lamb's Pride instead of the bulky right color wrong weight. Then after leaving the yarn shop we met my daughter and her boyfriend and Ganache Restaurant & Bakery we had a lot of fun. The she crab soup and shrimp and grits awesome. Hit Total Wine and Borders the came back to then depressing city of Asheboro. I have been watching tv, reading, visiting my favorite site on the web no knitting so far tonight. I might get in a row or two before the night is over. It is hard to work in all the things you want to do in a day. Happy crafting.

Oh, Oh, Oh it is the weekend

Well I made it until the end of the week. Friday and it is the weekend baby. I live for the weekend. I have nothing exciting planned for tonight. I came home from work watched The View and Dr Phil then a few things on tv. I am in bed at this time surrounded by knitting patterns and projects. I am having a hard time with the Wavy gravy pattern in the stitch'n bitch Nation pattern book by Debbie Stoller. I am not sure if it is because I am reading he pattern wrong or if I wait to late in the night to start the pattern. I just can't get it to come out right. I have cast on and ripped out several times in the last week. I will cast on again tomorrow, I re-read the pattern today and will re-read tomorrow. I am not sure where I am going wrong. I will pay a visit to Gate City Yarns tomorrow to get a few skeins of Lamb's Pride Bulky in M250 Cranberry Swirl to make a hat for my Daughter. I have a scarf going in that color using the beginner's basic II ribbed-for-Her-Pleasure scarf from Debbie Stoller's stitch' N bitch The Knitter's Handbook. So I plan to give her the scarf because she has a very pretty pea coat that will go great with the scarf and then knit a hat to match, the Hot Head hat on page 162 of the same book. I plan to use a solid color I think it will take only one more skein but just in case I will buy 2 maybe 3 better safe than sorry. I hope they still have the color in stock. It is so hard to work everything in that I would like to do. read, knit, blog and watch tv. My current reads Club Dead, by Charlaine Harris, Knitting Rules, by Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee, and Saved Folk in the House, by Sonnie Beverly. I guess I need to read a few pages and then knit a few rows. I knit a few row last night on my long running Bias scarf and the ribbed-ribbed-for-Her-Pleasure scarf, read a page or two in club dead. Happy Crafting. I will keep you updated on my progress this weekend.

I brought 2 books this weekend Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, Knitting Rules! and Saved Folk in the House a novel by Sonnie Beverly. The scarf I cast on had to be ripped out. I will start again soon. I had a great day today.

Stitch'N bitch The Knitter's Handbook

Well yesterday I decided to cast on a scarf from Stitch ' N bitch The Knitter's Handbook , by Debbie Stoller. beginner's basic II Ribbed-for-Her-Pleasure Scarf page 58. A simple rib stitch. I am using 2 skeins of Lamb's Pride Bulky m250 Cranberry Swirl spun and dyed by Brown Sheep Company, Inc. Very pretty great color. Long hard day today but I am one day closer to the weekend. Snow

Snow flurries in NC not long ago we had a few snow flurries in Asheboro. I love snow and I have often wonder what it would be like to have snow every winter. Big snows not just a dusting or a few inches. In the area I live in it is not often you get a big snow. Okay I want to start a project and I need needles to get the project started, so far I have not purchased the needles I need circular needles and double pointed needles. I checked my stash of needles and no go I need to get the needles they are not in my stash. It is my goal to learn how to use double pointed needles, circular needles , and cable needles. I need to knit a few rows on my scarf. Happy crafting.

Brand New Day

God is good and all the time God is good. We had snow over night and since it is NC and we get snow in the area I live maybe every 4 0r 5 years I called in today and did not go to work. I have been driving for more than 20 years but very little winter weather driving experience. The timing of this few inches of snow could not have been better because today is inauguration day. I have been glued to the television all day. I am still watching television. I am recording all of it and I hope we will be able to buy a dvd. Beyonc'e sang At Last, by Etta James and the President and First Lady did the first dance. I know a lot of people are unhappy about our 44th president but I really think we should give him a chance. I spent a little and I mean a very little amount of time knitting only a few rows on a bias scarf that I started month's ago and reading a few chapters of the secret life of a knitter by the Yarn Harlot, Stephanie Pearl- Mcphee. Craft on still watching tv.
