Spring

It is Spring once again and it is time for planting to start. I so over the weekend I spent sometime planting Tomato's. On Saturday I planted Grape Tomato's in hanging baskets. I got the idea from PBS's Almanac Gardener. They used Cherry Tomato's I could not find Cherry so I am using Grape. Since it is a small tomato I am hoping it will work just as good as the Cherry. On Sunday after a visit to Lowe's Hardware I planted a Better Bush and Patio tomato and 2 Sweet 100's all in containers. I know for sure the Patio and perhaps the Better Bush or especially bred for container gardening. I think this weekend just because and I need something to get me out of my depression, I will buy a big planter and a squash plant just to see if it will grow and produce. The stimulus check just did not do it for me, I made a car payment because I am behind to far behind on all my bills for that amount of money to do anything for me and the state of my life and financial situation. I made a trip to Costco that did make me happy for a few minutes I could not get everything I wanted it is a dream of mine. I am talking food items not lawn furniture, cloths or any extras. I love Costco. I never have a check that I can just spend what I want. Maybe one day. This weekend I finished up a dishcloth that went horribly wrong I think it happened around row 40 and I am sure that 3rd glass of wine helped. So this means I will need to get another ball of cotton yarn and start over on this pattern. Posting picture the Grape and Patio tomato. If you can tell the difference let me know.

Humday Surprise!!

I was delighted to find out when I walked through the door this afternoon my swap package sitting on the couch. I am participating in a natural fiber swap through crochetville it is a forum for crocheter's and knitters to share their work and to get and give inspiration. I love to see the work of other crocheter's and knitter's. You can visit crochetville at www.crochetville.org I have not spent a great deal of time knitting this week or last week. I must get back to my knitting and it has been a very long time since I have crocheted. I am currently reading Knit Fast, Die Young by Mary Kruger the 2nd book in the knitting series. I was so happy with all the wonderful things I received from my swap partner. The picture I posted is of the beautiful yarn and extras. My partner was very good to me and it was so much fun taking out each and every item from my box. I am already wondering what project to start with the Chunky Misti Alpaca Skein it is a very pretty color. I need to look through my one-skein wonders books to see if I can find a good project.

Oh Happy Day!

I finally finished the last dishcloth in the Leisure Arts Garden Dishcloths to Knit by Melissa Bergland Burnham. Birdhouse I used Peaches & Creme 4 ply Worsted Weight 100% Cotton Yarn color Camel. I hope to start another dishcloth soon. I am currently getting together the items for my partner in the natural fibers yarn swap on Crochetville. Also I fell victim to another swap and I sent in my survey for the Notions Swap so I hope the coordinator received my survey. Just finished reading Died in the Wool, by Mary Kruger. If you like a good mystery and knitting you should give this book a try. Just 2 more days until the weekend. Side note my daughter got the chance on Tuesday to hear Michelle Obama speak at her college and to shake her hand. She told me that she was a very good speaker. She is very excited this will be her first Presidential election she was not old enough to vote in 2004. It is a very exciting time in America.

Great weekend!!!!

Well this has been a great weekend. I spent the afternoon at an Ravelry meet up at Yarn Etc. in Greensboro NC, it was the first meet up. I met a lot of great knitters. Everyone was so nice and friendly. I am so mad at myself because I forgot to bring my camera. So no pictures of all the fun. I found the yarn for my partner in the yarn swap I am participating in at Crochetville. It felt great to get the chance to knit with a group. I met a lot of wonderful knitters. I got to see spinning and it looks like a lot of fun. I am not so sure I have the skill for spinning. Please forgive me for forgetting my camera. Still working on my birdhouse dishcloth.

April

It's April we are already 4 month's into the year. It's Spring and its raining. I am happy about the rain we need the rain lots of rain. Well my mother has finally started cleaning out her house because someone want to rent the house. This is it my house is not my own anymore, it is not that I don't get along with my Mother I do she is a very easy going woman. It's just that I am really feeling more than ever like a child. I really did enjoy living alone. I got to do that for a short time after my daughter went to college. Then all of a sudden my Grandmother was placed in a nursing home and my mother moved in with me which was always the plan I just hoped it would be a year or two before this took place and I did not realize how depressed I would be about the arrangement. I am convinced now that even if I really wanted to meet someone my chances and slim to none, who wants to date or marry a woman that lives with their Mother? Plus the fact that I am 44 overweight and uneducated and not smart enough to go to college with nothing to offer not even good teeth. The deck is stacked against me. No hope at all plus I don't get out much and I live in a terrible little town. what do you do I ask you. It would be nice to get physical again before I die. Well they say life is a bitch and then you die. Well enough of the pity party (with the balloon's and music). I have started the last dishcloth in the Leisure Arts #3934 Garden Dishcloths to Knit, by Melissa Bergland Burnham. The name of the pattern Birdhouse. I hope to finish sometime this week. I have not worked on the dishcloth today and of course I am 16 hours into my work week only 24 hours to go and it is the weekend baby. Tomorrow is hump day!!! I am currently reading Died in the Wool, by Mary Kruger. I am enjoying the book. I did not realize there were so many knitting related fiction books out in the world.

Cardinal

Another dishcloth. Cardinal 100% medium/worsted 4 ply yarn. One ball. Straight knitting needles, size 7(4.5 mm) or size needed for gauge. The color red of course. Leisure Arts #3934 Garden Dishcloths to Knit. All the dishcloths I have posted about have used the same yarn and needle size. One day I promise to knit something other than a dishcloth. I plan this coming weekend to attend a meet-up at Yarn etc. in Greensboro, I hope to meet some of the people from ravelry. That live in NC and the Triad area. During the meet up you get a prize for the number of finished objects you wear to the store and the number of unfinished objects you have in your project bag. I wonder if you can bring in both knit and crochet UFO'S. I will probably buy the yarn I need for the yarn swap I am participating in at Crochetville. I will post pictures of what I give and receive as soon as my swap partner has received and I have received.

Tulips

Tulips a sign of Spring. I finished another dishcloth last night. Tulip from Leisure Arts #3934 Garden Dishcloths to Knit, Designer Melissa Bergland Burrnham. In the pattern book the color Lilac was used to make the dishcloth. I used Hot Purple Lily The Original Sugar ' n Cream. I am almost finished with the pattern book. I cast on Cardinal today before work I got to work a few minutes early and what a relaxing way to start work by casting on and working a a row or two before the hard work starts. I will work a few rows tonight before I go to bed. I added the project on Ravelry tonight. Still getting use to the site. I will learn how to add things the right way soon. Okay a question URL? I wanted to add a slide show to my blog so I went to customize and then clicked on slide, clicked on flickr and I have a flickr account. Nothing happened. I notice url? so what do you do? What is my URL and how do I find it on flickr ? I have my blog listed on flickr.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I am still working on my blog to add back some of the things I lost this week while trying to add a new template. If there is someone out there that can tell me in simple and I mean simple terms how to add a slide show please do so. More post to come tonight I cast on the Tulip.

Long weekend

Well I have a nice long weekend to look forward too the office is closed tomorrow, so nice 3 day weekend coming. I plan to clean my bedroom and start on the garage. I want to add more to my blog and I guess I will give up on spicing my blog up by changing the background. I guess I will learn to be content with the templates blogger offers its customers. Posting a picture of another dishcloth. Still working my way through Lesiure Arts Garden Dishcloths to Knit, I am posting a picture of Hummingbird & Trumpet Vine. Current dishcloth I am working from the same pattern book is Bee Skep. I knit the Hummingbird & Trumpet Vine dishcloth in TeaRose, Lily The Original Sugar' n Cream. Yes one day I will move past dishcloths and try a wearable.

WIDGET?!!!!!

Okay what may I ask is a damn Widget? Last night while visiting Crochetville I ran across a persons blog with a template website for blogger. So I visit the site find a new template. So far so good. Then I follow the instructions from the site to download the new template again so far so good. The problem came in when the questions was asked on blogger do you want to delete your Widgets or something like that was ask okay I clicked yes and oh my oh my. I lost all my pictures, all my list only thing I did not lose was my posts. Could not figure out how to go back even though the directions seem very simple. So now I have to start all over again. I have added some of the blogs I like to read back and I not sure I will add the books back. I wish blogger would add some new templates and make it a little easier for those of us who are not so good with computer. Still can't figure out how to add a slide show. Oh well you can't have everything. Posting a picture of another dishcloth from Leisure Arts Garden Dishcloths to Knit, Topiary with Heart I used Lily The Original Sugar' n Cream cotton yarn in Emerald. One more day and I get a nice long weekend.

The Bad Blogger Returns

Well I am back again and this time I have pictures to post. I love to knit dishcloths but sometimes I am lazy and I don't knit much. Well I spent the weekend knitting dishcloths. Today I finished the dishcloths and a scarf just the weaving of ends. Also I am reading what I think is a good book again A Knitting Mystery the 4th from Maggie Sefton A killer Stitch, now this is not a deep book that opens your mind to the mysteries of life, its just a good entertaining read and it really makes me wish this fictional town exists and I lived in the town and was part of this great group of knitting. I don't have any knitting friends that I can meet up with in a yarn shop. Only on the net have I found blogs to read with great knitters. I am hoping this Spring and Summer to get out more and find a group. I have heard of a group in High Point I might try that group. I am currently working on another scarf of course. Giant Pom-Pom Scarf from Crazy Aunt Purl's Drunk Divorced & Covered in Cat Hair. So far so good I am still not sure if I want to use a whole skein or hank whatever you want to call it of Rio De La Plata for the Pom-Poms. In the book Aunt Purl(Laurie Perry) states you can buy pre made pom-poms but not sure how that would look, you would want the pom-poms to match. I think I need to find a good pom-pom maker trying to make them on my own has not worked out for me so far.

Dishcloths

Dishcloths are instant gratification. You can start one and finish one in the same day. I really enjoy both knitting and crocheting dishcloths. I am on a knit dishcloth thing at this time. I found a Leisure Arts pattern book at Hobby Lobby on Saturday Garden Dishcloths to Knit, by Melisa Bergland Burnham. Today I finished Sunflower I used Lily Sugar' N Cream cotton yarn in SunShine in the pattern the color they used was Maize. I am moving on sometime this week to Ladybug and then on to the weekend and I plan to start my 3rd Magic Scarf for a woman at work she liked the pattern when I show her my 2nd Magic Scarf. I will post a picture of the scarf as soon as I finish weaving the ends on the 2nd scarf. Previous post on the needles shows the unfinished 2nd Magic scarf. 3 days until the weekend.

Frog Dishcloth

Well the only thing I have to show for my long weekend. A knit Frog dish cloth I chose the color Hot Green the designer used Light Sage. I started working on it Sunday afternoon and finished about 2:00 am Monday morning. The office was closed today MLK Holiday. Saturday was very cold and I spent the most of the day watching it snow and watching tv. Here in this part of NC we hardly ever get snow and it was only a dusting maybe 1" here in Asheboro but it was pretty never the less. I did just a little knitting and some wine drinking. Sunday was sunny but cold and I made a pot of chili. I am currently working another dishcloth. The dishcloth patterns are from Leisure Arts #3934 Garden Dishcloths to Knit.

On the needle

I am almost finished with my 2nd Magic Scarf. I will try to post a picture. I did some work on the scarf earlier in the day and plan to work a little tonight on the scarf. No reading today. I did pay a visit to Ravelry and Crochetville. I hope all of you have a happy week.

Still living

Yes I am still around. I have been very busy working my 2nd Magic Scarf and trying not to start another project until I am finished with this scarf. Spending time on Ravelry and Crochetville, also reading at this time Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade, by Diana Gabaldon. My trouble is that I don't knit everyday some days I take my project to work and plan to work on it at lunch and then I don't I get home feeling sucked dry by my long day and still no knitting. I will try harder next week. I plan to knit tonight and most of tomorrow. I really need to finish this scarf. Maybe I need a lesson in time management.

My First Magic Scarf.

I finished my first Magic Scarf got the pattern from Laurie Perry, aka Crazy Aunt Purl the pattern can be found on her website or in her book Crazy Aunt Purl's Drunk, Divorced & Covered in Cat Hair. I used Yarn Bee Icelandic Jewels Marbled Onyx (color) yarn. You really can't see the stitches to good with this color yarn. I am working another Magic Scarf in the same yarn just different color Garnet just as soon as possible I plan to buy some Noro self striping and make one with that also its a great pattern and I am sure the Noro will look great with this pattern. My plan for 2008 is to knit and crochet, and read more this year. Oh and so that I will not die from a stroke, heart attack, or complications from diabetics lose some weight.

Red & Black Scarf and Hat Finished

I finally finished the Red & Black Scarf and Hat. I must admit that I am not so sure I really like the yarn I used for this scarf Bernat self striping yarn the Scarf was not so bad but finishing the hat well that was another thing all together. The yarn kept breaking while I was trying to stitch the hat together so I don't plan on giving this set to anyone the Hat just did not turn out the way I wanted it too. I am reading Crazy Aunt Purl's Drunk, Divorced & Covered in Cat Hair , by Laurie Perry aka Crazy Aunt Purl. I am enjoying the book because I think its funny and I think you should read something strictly for entertainment purposes every now and then and not just things to make you think and soul search, I don't think there is anything wrong with soul searching like I said sometimes you just want to be entertained. The book includes 14 knitting projects and I am surprised to find that I have the yarn that Laurie Perry used in one of the projects the "knitting recipes" as she calls the patterns Giant Pom-Pom Scarf she states that you can use any worsted-weight yarn (280 yards) you want to but she used Rio De La Plata worsted hand-dyed wool in "Faded Red Brick" I have I think 4 skeins.

Yes it is the weekend and I am on Vacation!!!

Okay its the weekend and I am on vacation. I don't have to go back to work until Jan 2, 2008!!!! Thank you! Thank you!, Thank you!. I spent today doing nothing. The only thing I managed to do was make a trip to Bottom Dollar (grocery store) Walmart and the ABC store. I tried to talk myself into cleaning my bedroom(I am a slob) so far no knitting or crochet, or reading. I plan to finish the knit hat I started this month and the magic scarf from Crazy Aunt Purl that I started this month too. I have to get busy all the wonderful knitters and crocheters Ravelry put me to shame with how quickly they finish projects. I hope to post pictures of finished projects soon.

I am a slow knitter

Yes I am still working on my knit hat and scarf in B and Red Bernat yarn. The scarf is finished I am working on the last few row of the hat. I really need to try my very best to knit even when I am tired and depressed. I want to give knitting on circulars a try I have purchased circular needles. So far I have not used any of the needles. My plan is to finish the hat this weekend. I promise to post a picture when the hat is finished.

Knit Hat and Scarf

Wow December. I finished a Hat and Scarf Knit. I got the pattern from the back of Bernat Super Stripes yarn. I did not use Bernat for this Hat and Scarf just the pattern. It is amazing to me how you can use the same pattern and different yarns and get such different looks for the same type of garment. I am using Yarn Bee Icelandic Jewels in Peridot (green). Very nice pattern easy to knit it is a k2 p2 thought out the entire pattern of the Scarf and the same with the hat until the last few rows to decrease. I must admit I am not to pleased with the pom-pom I think I need to buy a pom-pom maker. I am almost finished with the Hat using the Bernat Super Stripe with B & Red it looks pretty good too. I will post a picture of that when I am finished. My Model is my Sister.

Last November post

Well here we are again the end of the month. I finished knitting both ribbed scarves and I have started the hat in the Icelandic Jewels Peridot (green). I am so glad we are close to the weekend I need to rake leaves again this weekend and get all of the leaves on the curb I am not sure when the city will come by to pick the leaves up. Well not much to say tonight just a quick update to let you know I am still around and knitting.

Sunday, November 25, 2007

My Holiday is over now back to work tomorrow.

Well Thanksgiving day was okay not to bad dinner with the family. Friday shopping well it did not work out to well, my daughter and I went to best Buy but the item she wanted a digital camera was gone before the store was open. You have to get in line very early to get the doorbusters. Well then we went to the Mall went to the calendar shop and found 2008 Knitting Pattern-a-day. Came home from our shopping trip and went back to bed it was still that early. Saturday did a little leaf raking and made 2 pots of chili. Posting pictures of Hermes and Goldie . Hermes is the baby a very big baby and don't let the sweet look fool you because he is a bad kitty, Goldie still does not like Hermes and she just can't get over the fact that she is not the only one anymore. I am still reading and knitting worked on the green scarf yesterday and Thursday.

I have my camera!!!

I am posting again tonight because I just could not wait until I finished this scarf to post a picture so here is a picture of 2 scarves I am working and hope to finish this week so I can start the hats for both scarves. The pattern is from the back label of Bernat's Super Stripes yarn. You can tell the big difference in using 2 different yarns and the same pattern. 2 more days to go and I will have a nice long weekend!!! Well I hope everybody has a nice Thanksgiving and a good time at the after Thanksgiving day sales. Scarf 2 I used Yarn Bee Icelandic Jewels yarn in peridot (green).

Another Sunday Night with lots of knitting to do.

It's Sunday night again and the best thing about it is all I have to do is make it through 3 days at work this coming week. Thanksgiving on Thursday and our office closes for 2 days Thursday and Friday, even if I am broke I am so happy about the 3 day work week I just don't know what to do. I am still working on 2 scarves and plan to start a hat this week. I started reading a new book this weekend Back on Blossom Street, by Debbie Macomber so far pretty good. Even though I knew I should not have I brought the book I am reading and I brought a new pattern book, 101 Designer one-skein wonders edited by Judith Durant. I feel very guilty for doing this because I did not really have the money to spend.

Long weekend.

Well so far I have had a pretty good weekend. The best part of it is I don't have to go to work tomorrow Veteran's Day. I am still working on the same 2 scarves and reading Knitting under the influence, by Claire LaZebnik, good read I am almost finished reading. I went to the football game at my daughters school great game WSSU 35 North Carolina Central 10. Very happy that WSSU won the game. My Daughter cheers for WSSU(Winston Salem State University). I am still sad about not being able to take my sock class I hope after the first of the year the store will hold another class. I hope to finish the red and black scarf and start the hat next week. I don't know if my daughter will wear the scarf and hat or not red and black are her school colors but you never know she says I make scarves to wide go figure. She only has 1 more football game away and I think I will get my camera back and I will post a picture of the scarf set.

Still knitting

Well long time between post. I am still knitting and working on the same project as last post a very nice scarf, I started another scarf with the same pattern different yarn. I find it amazing that you can have such different looks to a pattern when you try different yarns. I will post picture as soon as I get my camera back from my daughter. I am reading a really good book Knitting under the influence by Claire LaZebnik. I am a little unhappy because I am having car troubles and I won't be able to take my sock knitting class and I have been waiting a long time to take the class. Just to be polite I will call tomorrow to let them know why I wont be able to come. Maybe she will offer another class soon. Until then I will continue to knit and read.

Knitting, Reading, and Ravelry

I have spent the weekend knitting I am working on a scarf of course. Months ago I brought some Bernat Super Stripes (self stripping yarn) in red and black, the pattern was on the back label. I brought it to make an crocheted afghan but I gave up because it was to hard to count the stitches with this yarn noticed the hat & scarf but it was before I learned to knit. Well I finally felt brave enough to try and even though I had to rip the scarf out a few times things are going great with the scarf. I am reading a really good book by Anne Bartlett it is her first Novel the name is Knitting and yes it is about more than knitting. I worked on my spot pm Ravelry added books a few of my finished projects my blog entries. I can see my self spending a lot of time on the site. It took a while for me to get my invite signed up end of July and got my invite in October. I hope the site inspires me to finish all my UFO'S. I got a call on Saturday Morning from a lady that works at Stitch Point in Greensboro it is a great yarn store. She plans to hold a sock class November 6 & 13 I plan to attend only @ $20.00 you know I need to call and find out what supplies I need for the class or at least how much money I need to bring for supplies.

Recycling bin arrived!!!!!

Well its Tuesday and I have a lid for my recycling bin. The bin arrived yesterday without a lid. So I called to ask about the lid I was told that I would get a lid today and I did it was dirty. Well I washed off the lid and now my bin is ready for my recycling. I can't wait for November 1 this will be so much better than taking my recycling to a site. I am working on a very nice scarf found the pattern on the label of Bernat Super Stripes it is a self striping yarn, very easy pattern but you still have to pay attention to what you are doing. I am using the red and black. A friend of mine at work has a friend that works part time for an agency that helps senior citizen's it is a shop and all the proceed go for program for senior citizen's. Someone came by and donated knitting needles!!!!! you can never have enough knitting needles. She call my friend at work to let her know because she knew about my knitting, I got 13 pairs of needles 0 - 15 for $5.00 !!!!! stored in a mailing tube it is a really neat way to store needles. I love a bargain. I finally got my invite to Ravelry its a great place I have not done much with it joined several groups on a book club and I found some books that I really want to read. I picked one up at the library today Knitting a novel by Anne Bartlett requested the 2nd Love under the influence for got the authors name on that one but book sound like good reads. Happy crocheting and knitting.

POTHOLDER

Yes it has been a long time since my last post. I did not realize how long until I came here to visit tonight. I had a pretty good weekend, I did not do to much on Saturday I made a trip to Hobby Lobby and brought a pattern book and leaflet Yes I know I can find most of these patterns for free but I love buying pattern books. Well I brought Leisure Arts dishcloths From The Heart by Evelyn A. Clark. I knitted #14 Purled Heart I think it turned out pretty good, I plan to start #12. I can't post a picture tonight because my daughter has my camera. We really need to become a 2 camera family. I received a letter in the mail on Saturday and The woman that taught me to crochet and she attempting to get a group started for ladies to meet and talk, knit and crochet. I hope everybody has a great week and that all your projects are going well. Happy knitting and crocheting!

Fall is on the horizon!!!

Okay I know it has been a very long time since my last post. I have been busy reading, knitting and gardening. The fall garden is almost complete we planted cabbage, kale, spinach, collards, cauliflower, and Brussel sprouts plan to go back to the seed store and buy more greens ruffle leaf. I have started and ripped out 2 scarves it is for the scarf swap on crochetville. I will not tell you which scarf I am working on because I don't want my swap partner to know what scarf or scarves she will receive. I am determined this scarf won't get the best of me and I will complete the scarf. I have read 3 books by Wanda E Brunstetter they are from the Brides Of Lancaster County Book 1 A Merry Heart, 2 Looking For A Miracle, 3 Plain @ Fancy I plan to buy book 4 soon. I hope all your crochet and knitting projects are going well. Happy crocheting and knitting. I will post a picture of what I send and receive as soon as the swap is over.

Long time between posts

Hi everybody this is the first post in a long time. All is well in my household. I am still knitting. I am working on a scarf from One Skein Wonders page 67 the One Skein Scarf so far so good I have gone off the pattern twice which means you have to be careful how many glasses of wine you drink while knitting. I really wish I could find a nice group to join so that I can share knitting. I need to call or email all the local yarn shops and ask if they can hold more knitting classes at night. I want to learn how to knit socks and sweaters I am afraid to start out on my own on either project. Happy crocheting or knitting .

HERMIS

I found my charger for my camera. My daughter had the charger in her bedroom in a container she uses for her dorm room, this was a container she told me she had checked to see if my charger was in weeks ago. So I charged the battery and I have a picture of Hermis to post. I went to a book discussion today on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows it was a great discussion I did not stay to hear The Remus Lupins or The Whomping Willows. There was a woman at the discussion and she was knitting using circular needles I wanted to ask her but I am shy and I did not talk to her about the knitting project. I could have made a knitting friend. I need to stop worrying about how people will react to me and talk a little more I was so silly not to talk during the book discussion. When the discussion was opened the moderator asked what part of the book stood out and we enjoyed but I did not think until the end of the discussion about the beginning of the book when Harry and the Durleys are about to depart from on another and Dudley asks what about him and he almost says thank you to Harry. I wish in the epilogue J K Rowling would have put something in there about Dudley and weather he and Harry tried to have a relationship, since he found out Dudley did not hate him as much as Harry thought. A lot of people in the group keep hoping that J K Rowling will write another book sometime in the future involving Harry but I don't think so she has ended the series well it just can't go on forever that's sad bu true. I am working on squares to send to warm up America I have a very nice square going at this time a knit 5 purl 5 making a kind of basket weave it is very nice I plan to make some dish clothes out of this pattern. Happy knitting and crocheting.

HOT!!! HOT!!! HOT!!!!

Okay it is HOT in NC in Raliegh today it hit 101 not that hot here in Asheboro but hot enough. I finally this weekend blew up the plastic pool and sat in it on Sunday for a while it was fun had a glass of wine and a beer while in this Little pool big enough for more than one and you can stretch your legs out. I have been busy working on 2 Bias's scarfs and squares to send to Warm Up America. or to donate to a local group if I can find one in the area. I found a pattern by http://www.crazyauntpurl.com/ it is the Magic Scarf I really want to try this scarf she used Noro Silk Garden and it was just beautiful.I want to use this yarn also, I found another scarf at it is the Zig Zag Scarf, in the Zig Zag Scarf the designer used Tahki Chelsea Silk you can use an appropriate substitution. I am on a Scarf kick they are easy and fun when you don't have a lot of experience. I went with my Sister on Saturday to a man house that she works with he had kittens he and his wife wanted to give away and I fell victim to very cute little orange kitten that I brought home and his name is Hermis, well Goldie the very spoiled little girl that I have had here for 2 years is not very happy at this time maybe in a few months she will at least be able to get near Hermis with out hissing and making that mad cat noise. If I can ever find or order another charger for my camera I will post a picture of Hermis he is such a cute little guy.

I am now on the list for the book on CD I am calling tomorrow morning to see if they have the book waiting for me I noticed that I have an item ready for pick up I hope this is not a mix up and they don't still have a book waiting for me instead of the CD. All Harry Potter fans if you have not finished reading yet please finish so we can leave each other comments about the book. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows

I have my book I wanted to post early this morning but got in a little late and wanted to started reading as soon as I could after I got home. I love to people watch so after dinner last night my daughter and I got out the lawn chairs and sat on the sidewalk waiting for 11:30 and time to lineup. I think this went pretty smoothly, The lining everyone up at 11:30 first group A, then B called into the store the group and put into a lined that wrapped around one side of the bookstore then the count down and then you could get your book I was out of the store and in my car by 12:20 so not bad but then came the slight bit of car trouble and me daughter following my home to Asheboro instead of going back to Winston-Salem. I started about 2:00 and read until 4:30 slow reader so only made it to page 85 now on page 231. I am avoiding must places on the internet so that I won't find out before I am finished with the book whats going to happen I have not looked at the back page so I don't know what the final word is in the book. I you have finished the book please don't leave any comments about the ending. Happy crocheting and knitting and reading to all Happy Potter fans.

Group C

The count down is on!!!!!! I was at Barnes & Nobles at 8:40 this morning and I was greeted by a long line of people waiting for the store to start giving out the wristbands at 9:00 am. One 9:00 came around I think the line moved fairly quick because I was back in my car by 9:50. The woman that gave me my wristband stated no #'s this time we will be let in the store in groups. So I am in group C, the party starts at 7:00 lots of games for the children and I heard a lot of people in line talking about dressing up as characters from the books. I will not dress up I just can't go that far, 2 trips to Greensboro in 1 days is pushing things. I am meeting my daughter at Macaroni Grill at 7:00 for dinner and then I will sit around in the parking lot or on the sidewalk where ever they allow you to wait. They start lining everyone up at 11:30.

Coffee Mitt

I started a Coffee Mitt today in my last knitting class. It is shaping up very well and I am so happy with my start to the Coffee Mitt. I need to take another set of classes then build some confidence that I can do this my self. So far I can knit, purl, increase, decrease, and slip a stitch. I need to get yarn over and I am sure a lot more that these things. I will be so glad when Knitty Gritty starts a new season. It finally rained today so I did not have to water the garden today. I have the day off work on Friday and I can't wait until Friday. I am planning to go to Greensboro on Friday morning to pick up my wrist band at Barnes and Noble. I am sure I will be up late on Saturday Morning trying to read a few chapters of Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows. This is it the end of the series. I will post a picture of the start to the Coffee Mitt. Happy crocheting and knitting.

Saturday Shopping Trip

I made a trip to Stitch Point in Greensboro today it is a very nice yarn shop it was my 2nd time visiting the shop and just like the first the ladies in the shop treated me very nice and helped me a lot I went to the shop to get yarn for a Gryffindor Scarf but they did not have the colors I wanted for the scarf and I was told that they shop owner plans to stop carrying Cascade due to high shipping cost. I understand stand she does plan to start and had some of the yarn that compares to Cascade that can by used to make the scarf but I did not see the colors I needed. I did buy yarn for 3 projects I want to work on in the One Skein Wonders pattern book. The projects are One-Skein Scarf page 67, Ela's Favorite Hat page 126, and Coffee Mitt page125. So my next knitting lesson instead of working the Gryffindor Scarf I will work the One-Skein Scarf. I paid a visit to Barnes & Noble just to make sure my name was on the list for the Harry Potter book it was on the list and I am glad I stopped by because I found out they plan to start giving out the wrist bands at 9:00 am so this might mean 2 trips to Greensboro on Friday. I will need to leave the house by at least 8:15 to get to the store by 9:00 get my wrist band and come home. I asked a friend if he would meet me in Greensboro around 7:00 go to dinner and then go to the store to sit in the parking lot and wait the party starts at 7:00 that is for the little kids. I love to go early and see al the people dressed like the characters. I am working on my 2nd Bias Scarf.

Knitting class went very well today I learned to do a Bias Scarf you have to both increase and decrease in this scarf it looks great so far I wish I had used the variegated yarn instead of the solid. It is still pretty in the solid but I love color. I am still afraid to branch out and do more than scarves and hats. Happy crocheting and knitting.

We should have tomato's soon and cucumber's they are in bloom. Hobby Lobby this week has the yarn that I really like on sale Yarn Bee Icelandic Jewels. Very pretty colors on sale this week for .99 and regular price $5.22 I brought 24 skeins on payday after the house payment I might buy more. I brought out all the ruby Icelandic Jewels today just could not help myself. I hated being greedy. while I was at Hobby Lobby I went to the pattern and leaflet books and I noticed that Debbie Macomber has 2 pattern books to go along with the books she wrote book 1 The Shop On Blossom Street and book 2 A Good Yarn, the books have the patterns from both book's that Lydia(character from book) taught in her knitting classes. I have not crocheted in a month and no knitting all week. I had a rough week last week. I did finish reading The Shop On Blossom Street for anyone who want to read the books you should read The Shop On Blossom Street First.
